My PS3 isn't black, it's four-foot-eleven, a DD cup and had a cameo in Miss Congeniality 2. Am I safe?

I actually found myself liking it quite a bit: the contrast is visually arresting and draws the eye to the sidebar and the ticker more effectively than ENN's color cheme did.

I should probably clarify this a tad...
It isn't that I hate LRR, or Penny Arcade, or even the content of CheckPoint (I actually did enjoy it quite a bit, especially given that it mirrors ENN in many aspects).
More, I'm irritated that Penny Arcade is getting still more online subscribers from still more avenues of entertainment, when they already borderline-monopolise the webcomic readership.
As a webcomic artist and author of nearly 4 years myself, Penny Arcade is a member of the elder peers that are doing some serious harm to the industry, for which I don't really blame them but they (and others like them) don't really redeem themselves by continuing to increase their readership figures like this. The elder webcomics make it very hard to start up, let alone succeed, in the webcomics industry because, simply put, the capacity does not exist to compete with them.
So yeah, enjoyed the video, dislike the implications its location has for my industry.
Aside from the 4th Panel segments of Penny Arcade's self titled reality series, none of these videos seem to do a lot to promote anything other than the rest of the videos on the site. Your webcomicing is fine, however you might have just lost a lot of hits if you were planning on making a parody news show.

I actually worked really hard on that colour-scheme, I assure it's not presetThrashJazzAssassin wrote:Not so keen about the colour scheme, particularly with that style of graphics. I once spent several seconds in a room with a guy who once owned a PS3. Am I safe?
And if your friends PS3 had a PlayStation Eye, no you're not safe.
It has X-ray capability, you know.

Red+Yellow = McDonalds. Doesn't matter what shades, it all equals McDonalds in my eyes.
More importantly, my PS3 is matte grey 57 inches long, weighs 30.9lbs, you slide a large brass object into it and costs around 7k usd, am I safe?

I dunno, I like it, it differs itself in color-scheme compared to most of the other stuff on the site, and I find it helps as a since of starting something new and fresh, but still holds some of the good old elements in it.

Your PS3 is actually aging country music singer Dolly Parton. Your personal information is safe, as are your eardrums as long as you don't search for her on YouTube or come within twenty-five miles of Branson, Missouri.

You misunderstand, as PA garners increasingly large numbers of visitors for their other media, their flagship product (the webcomic pages) garners increasing attention, in turn feeding their existing readership which far exceeds that of any other webcomic today. It's a symptom of a much greater malady plaguing the industry which is perhaps best described in the old phrase "the rich get richer, the poor get poorer".
You can create the most fantastically well-written and beautifully-drawn piece of art on a thrice-weekly basis, and it counts for nigh-on diddly squat in webcomics unless you started almost a decade ago. It is a very harsh industry simply because the readership is monopolised by those who were first, who in turn continue to monopolise it because the alternative marketing options for the younger artists are few and far between.
As I say, I enjoyed the video, but much as I respect Mike and Jerry for their charitable contributions and their forays into other media, they are perhaps one of the most oblivious toxins within the industry today.

It did seem to attract some attention though so post it on the vent thread, or make it its own thread.

Got a few smiles from me but no outright laughs, think PSN jokes have kinda passed their sell-by-date. Actually think they passed it about a week ago. Also as some others have said, Persona-esque graphic style, intentional or not?

njsykora wrote:I don't buy that PA make it harder to build a webcomic, or to make it successful. Their success may have over-saturated the gaming webcomic market with people looking to piggy-back on their success (sometimes even with the same jokes) but story-based or diary style webcomics shouldn't be affected since they occupy a different space and command a different readership. Webcomics aren't a finite resource and its not like people can only 'afford' to read one.

Checkpoint definitely fills the gap left by ENN as far as I'm concerned. I laughed at the target audience joke at the start. Not bitter at all.

Yesss! ENN returns! ^_^
Well, OK, it's not called ENN anymore of course, but it's similar enough.
I was very glad to see this. Then I watched it and was even happier. It was great--thank you guys for being so awesome.

YES THANK you I knew it reminded me of something.
Friggin' awesome. I loved Grit's design, second favorite Advance Wars character (after Max, DEM ARMS) and I love the swooping trench-coat look. Excellent!
I love that the four of you have really distinctive silhouettes. So good!

Wow. Yep, this is gooooood...
I got the joke before Paul got to the punchline, but having him describe all of those things that weren't PS3s was hilarious.
And it's good to see Graham and Kathleen's trademark brands of sarcastic wit being brought back to the table. I did miss things like
"...presumably feeling they'll be more successful while not under the direct control of people who actively hate video games" and
"to flesh out that Red Faction expanded universe we were all so worried about."
(I have never played Red Faction, or... quite a lot of video games, actually , but I'm going to assume for the purposes of grinning at that joke that Red Faction doesn't or shouldn't have much of an expanded universe)
