Re: Mass Effect 2
Guys, it's perfectly possible to kill Miranda: I did it. Put her in charge of the other squad while I fought the Reaper.
Only she and Thane died, but i felt quite guilty about both. Miranda had a sister she left behind and Thane had a son (sure, he was dying, but there was still father-son bonding to be had).

Re: Mass Effect 2
It's perfectly possible, but she remains the most difficult. I swear I read somewhere that while most of your crew have two or three opportunities for accidental death, Miranda only has one.
The fact that it's at the end adds credence to the idea that they did it because they would have had to rewrite the sequence substantially without her.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I don't get the idea that it takes a lot of work to get the perfect ending (everyone survives). Sure it might take time but it's not too difficult. The only part which may cause problems will be at the end when you're choosing roles for your squad, but again as long as you're sensible it's straightforward enough.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I did the ending sort of backwards.
My first attempt, everyone survived (except Kelly, but that I didn't mind so much - I still count that). Second attempt, one person died because I forgot to upgrade part of the ship, thinking I'd already done it. Third attempt, half my crew died because I was, er, trying to.

But that's the point, you have to really try to. If you're diligent with your upgrades and doing everyone's missions then the good ending falls out easily enough. The only part that might take you by surprise if you were playing it first time through is if you choose to go for the IFF now or later.

Re: Mass Effect 2
The only other mistake I've seen people making semi-regularly (that is, other than whether to follow the crew immediately or delay) is the choice for who to lead the second team. I've seen a few people come to the wrong decision there based on what seemed like sound logic. But you're right, most of it is just being diligent earlier in the game.

I've gotten to the point where I don't even know what to expect from 3, and any speculation I've been doing just sends my mind into spins. I'm just counting down the days (and hoping that it doesn't suck)...

Re: Mass Effect 2
I only want three things from 3 and I will be satisfied.
1. Truly epic fleet rallying scene where all the races come together set to a truly epic soundtrack
2. Garrus and Tali being awesome in every way possible.
3. This. I'm fed up with that turian and his attitude.

So, yeah. I was really looking forward to the new Mass Effect book, seeing as the previous three had been awesome.
Then I saw this.
The most worrying one is that the author has decided that someone can grow out of autism, it appears.
CURSES!
I just want ME3 to be awesome. And for my friend to get his internet fixed so we can do the co-op.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Co-op does apparently give various boosts to the single player. So presumably you need to link your multiplayer to your current career in some way, or maybe if you get X achievements in multiplayer they get applied across the board to all your careers? Official explanation is needed.
Multiplayer should be quite fun though with hot-keyed special powers and only having yourself to worry about (powers-wise).
I wonder if, by playing all your cards right throughout the trilogy, it'll be possible to summon a mega fleet for the finale of Rachnii, Quarian, Geth, Krogan, Citadel races and perhaps even the Batarians?
Did you see the new cast video? Intrigued to find out how major/minor Jessica Chobot's character will be, she looks Alliance, so who knows.

Looks like Snooki, in my opinion.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Space Snooki could be hilarious if done right.
But seriously, it's impossible to predict based on that video, but my hunch would be based on the limited amount we know that she's a crew member like Kelly Chambers, Gabriella Daniels, or Kenneth Donnelly.
That's basically a shot in the dark, though. I could be incredibly wrong.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Good video I like the way that Seth Green and Tricia Helfer do their interview together - Joker/EDI anyone?

I freaked out when I saw Tricia Helfer. I knew she voiced EDI, it's just weird seeing Number Six in any other role.

Huh. So my guess was totally wrong!
Nice to see she's romanceable, though.

Sorry that was to LogicSword. Diana looks very romance-able though
I was really happy that you were so passionate, thinking that you were just as into boning fictional collections of pixels as I am.
And now I am sad.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Well my femshep is already going to be torn between Liara and Garrus. I don't need a third person thrown into the mix, no matter how well-rendered her pixels are. And they are indeed very well-rendered.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I'm sticking with Ashley for my main playthrough. My femshep's going for Garrus and my second Male Shepherd is going for Tali. After that it depends on who I like in the new game.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Chloe Shepard has remained faithful to Kaidan since game 1, and will be staying faithful to him in game 3. Martina Shepard romanced Liara in game 1, strayed in game 2 to have a fling with Kelly, but will be returning to Liara in game 3. Sean Shepard romanced Ashley in game one, but she was tragically killed in the line of duty, and he romanced Tali in game 2. He'll be staying loyal to her in game 3. Dana Shepard has no time for your goddamn romance, she's got a galaxy to save!

Re: Mass Effect 2
It just occurred to me that I can't even remember who my M-Shep romanced. Liara, possibly? But did he stay with her, or not? I can't even recall. ( I guess he did since I don't remember romancing anyone else, but I feel like there's a huge black spot in my memory over M-Shep.)
My first Shepard went for Kaidan and then Garrus. I don't know what she'll do in game three.

I might just have a go at flirting with everyone on my ship and see where that takes me.
Hey, that works in Dragon Age.
