Spam Theatre 2

Postby Graham » 14 Jan 2005, 17:48

Gouranga!!

Yeah, I don't get it either, but that was the entire content of the e-mail.

Duncan's subtitles are the direct translation of China/German e-mail we got.

My goodness I detest spam. Thoughts?

...that was grand. I can't say it made a whole lot of sense, but at least the german sounded good.
Spam mail is just so damn shifty.

We were getting Unhappy Housewife Porn emails on the Over The Edge listserver for a while before Christmas. It was a little scary.
"I swear it," said the other mother. "I swear it on my own mother's grave."

"Does she have a grave?" asked Coraline.

"Oh yes," said the other mother. "I put her in there myself. And when I found her trying to crawl out, I put her back."

Well, we realize it doesn't really make sense, what we're doing is taking the content of spam e-mails, and using that, and only that, as dialogue for skits.

Example:

From: Neateye
Subject: Gouranga
Date: December 18, 2004 10:43:23 AM PST

Call out Gouranga be happy!!!
Gouranga Gouranga Gouranga ....
That which brings the highest happiness!!

That was the entire e-mail. No pix, no links, just that.

Awesome, I really liked the Chinese who knew german one.

Plus, hats for finding a good way to present them. Spam Theatre 1 was kinda of a bore/not that funny,

I loved the Viagra/whatever emails done together, great comparisona and makes for the funny.

Well, some Chinese know how to speak German really well. My friend Gabi is from Guangzhou and she's pretty much fluent (not that I can tell, but she knows some Germans in town).

You kind of get personal spam everywhere you go in China, so many people get payed to stand around handing out ads for different companies. You also get people saying "hello (whatever they're selling)"a I just wish I could speak well enough to tell them that I'm not a motorcycle etc!

This is an example of one of those rare concepts that's so simple and perfect that it's brilliant. Glad you decided to do another one.
