Unskippable: Onimusha 3

Postby Elomin Sha » 16 Mar 2009, 08:09

"A Present? For..." us? Thank you Graham and Paul. Keep them coming.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... Onimusha-3

Why can we never be part of the big monster team? It's not fair.

I've noticed in the sword fight with guy coming out of the green jello his head doesn't move. Very stiff fighting style.

If Jean Reno's in that I'm all for it.

To be fair the Onimusha intros usually are pretty awesome if you ask me.

Lost Odysey has an intro very similar, very nice. Not sure if that is worthy of an Unskippable.
With the Darkness reference again maybe that will be Unskippable's running joke.

Then again, THAT guy had been fighting and such for a thousand years, you'd be surprised if he wasn't kickass after having been a mercenary for such a long time.

Also, the word 'pamplemousse' always cracks me up.

You know, I never had any desire to play the Onimusha games before.

But Jean Reno as a playable character? Beating up Japanese demon things?

Sweet.

"Is that... Jean Reno"

How many times have I asked myself that question?

Yet, I will watch almost anything* that man is in.

So do the game cut scenes end in Unskippable when you'd actually begin playing or are they just cut down to a certain length?

The pre-video advertisement won't load, and I can't close it, so I can't see the video.

What bullshit.

Yeah, the Escapist uses a pre-video advertisement. So long as I can recall, the one they've showed before the Unskippables has been like a ten second still frame for some new Halo thing, has kinda low key ambient music in the background.

It just won't load now. The ad overlay comes up, and then never runs.

I also thought the point of Unskippables was to do bad cutscenes; I guess whatever's funny, though. "You sir, are a dillhole" lol.

And now, somehow, the pre-video advertisement has vanished when I load the page, and it plays.

HUZZAH!

Often they do indeed end at the same time, but sometimes we trim as well.
This one, for example, had an additional short scene back in Japan that we cut for length.

The thing was still a little long, but we couldn't not use the random France bit.

FYI, there's a very good reason capcom didn't let you play that part...and his name is Donnie Yen...

Personally I loved Onimusha 3, and the entire series for that matter...never did play the 4th one though...I think I own it...maybe its time to get cracking...

I remember when this game first came out. I was thirteen and a huge Japanophile at the time, so I did a double-take when the game suddenly shifted continents on me before I even got to play.

If anyone has seen Blazing Saddles (I'm looking at you Graham) did it not remind you of the bit right at the end of the film....

"Excuse us, could you direct us to Onimusha 3? I think we made a wrong turn somewhere."

That's a good way to put it, actually.

Fantastic Unskippable. As usual.

I loved pretty much everything about this Unskippable. I can't really put my finger on it, but this is my favorite so far. We crave such entertainment! Keep it up!
