Re: PAX

Sable and I went the last couple years and it was great, but this year we're out of money (cursed weddings and their associated money-sinking capabilities!). We may be trying for PAX East, though. I've never been to the East Coast before.

Congrats Sable. I hope the lady knows how lucky she is.

I absolutely do. I keep thinking I'm going to snap awake and come to my senses and realize that I'm not allowed to be this happy. :D

Re: Enemies of Twilight Rejoice: Edward Was Hit By Taxi

Yeesh, and Wil Wheaton thought he had it bad with the "Shut up Wesley" crap. Although I'm sure people would have celebrated his getting hit with a taxi, too. WTF is up with people who can't distinguish between an actor and their character? That said, this pretty much sums up my reaction to...

Re: Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Don't forget the band, too - the local group they had doing the music was amazing. (The theatre company rehired them next year to do a stellar production of Tommy , also starring Stitt, which became the highest-grossing show in their history.) Sadly, I found the movie to be a bit of a disappointment...

Very cute, as always, but...

...when the guy says "I'm in the strip club", *how* could you miss the opening for a Roman-accented "There are Big American Titties here!" joke? How??

I'm severely disappointed in you two.

I actually have a 2004 Mazda3 hatchback that would fill your needs nicely, if still with a whiff of "chick car" about it. I was thinking about offering a part trade (I owe about $6500 on it, significantly less than it's worth), but I just looked up ferry prices. $1100 each way, without a c...

I love In Bruges so much. There were a couple points that sort of stood out for me, but the whole movie was just astounding. Sable actually rented that on your recommendation. I could probably draw you a chart of my mood watching it - from amused to horrified to disbelieving to absorbed to (in the ...

Graham - you bring up an excellent point. Sometimes a movie itself can be mediocre but have a moment in it that totally shakes you up like that. Interestingly, the reverse is also true - occasionally a movie sneakily draws you in, and even though there isn't any one particular point where you went &...

Wow - so many great suggestions! Too bad I've already seen most of them. Dolphin, I may well add Gurren Lagann to the Netflix queue. I know anime's usually a bit slow to start, but one of my favorite series (Trigun) was similar and also amazing. And I've been looking for something a bit different to...

Well, I've seen both Hogfather (which I enjoyed) and Coraline (which was a button short of perfect, but amazed me nonetheless).

Maybe I should be asking a different group - I seem to have too much in common preference-wise with this one.

I saw and enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire quite a bit. It didn't quite make me want to jump up and clap, but I think that might also have just been the mood I was in that particular night. I sometimes think that's part of the trouble when it comes to getting that reaction from someone with a movie - so ...

A movie-watching experiment

I've been going on a bit of a movie-watching binge lately, and I'm normally a bit picky (sometimes too much for my own good, I'm told) as to what I see. So, I'm going to run an experiment here - what was the last movie you saw that really elevated you? Not one that you just liked, or that was a dece...

A bit of fact-checking: Speaking as someone who may be interested in purchasing this product...are the claims made in this video at all true? Cos, like, dude. Mountie concierge meeting me at the border with my socialized medicine card? Sign me up. :D
