Re: Ask Alex and Paul LIVE (PAX West 2017 replacement edition)
Dear Drs Paul and Alex, My parents owe me a fairly significant amount of money. I saw "owe" because they made it very clear that it was a loan and they've given me multiple deadlines that they promised to fulfill. Long story short, it's been three years and I haven't seen a cent. Is there ...

There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I'm one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new bluejeans My father was a gamblin' man Down in New Orleans Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and trunk And the only time he...

Re: Retro Games Collections?
I've never had much luck with consoles. All of my old systems started failing after about five years: my Genesis, my PS1, my PS2, my Xbox, the TRS-80 I inherited from my dad (complete with tape drive!). The only system I've had for any length of time is my trusty XBox 360, still going strong after n...

I have removed this post because, since clearly there is nothing to see here about Elomin's forgetfulness from old age, it would make me look like a buffoon.

I know I haven't stuck my head in here in a while (long story involving a mass relay, three aroused krogan, and a poorly-sharpened guillotine), but did Kapol just contribute something to the Hijack Thread that wasn't just "Kapol?" *grabs Kapol and shakes them vigorously* WHAT DID YOU DO WI...

Re: Limits on freedom of speech
So if I call somebody a "cunt" (which I would never do, but for the sake of the hypothetical) and they say "Hey, could you not? That's a very offensive word," I can't claim that my free speech is being impinged upon just because I can't say whatever slur might pop into my head. ...

Re: Limits on freedom of speech
I've always been of the opinion that you can SAY whatever you like, but your "freedom of speech," or, as I've heard online, "MUH FREEZE PEACH" does NOT exonerate you from the consequences of what you say. That means threats and hate speech deserve an appropriate response. So if I...

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Recently rediscovered my love of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. My friends and I have started treating it like an RPG, creating backstories for our characters and story context for the endless hordes and objectives.
Also, I have FRIENDS to play games with! How totally rad is that!

Re: The General Chat thread
Hey guys, I need help. And before you say "But Prospero, therapy is expensive!" I actually need help finding a specific video. It's one of my favorites, but I haven't watched it in a bit and I cannot, FOR THE LIFE OF ME, recall the title at the moment. It had Graham, Andy, Paul, and Morgan...

Re: The depressing depression thread
Why am I always on the outside? Every few months, a new craze sweeps the Internet. It dominates my Twitter feed, fills every subreddit with context-sensitive memetics, and the gifs, oh DEAR GOD THE GIFS. But it's always, always, ALWAYS something I'm just not into. It happened with Breaking Bad. It h...

Re: Dallas
I hate my Twitter feed right now.
Half of it is about the horrors of Dallas. The other half is feverish wankery over a stupid Pokemon app. I don't understand how these two things can exist in the same place at the same time.

Re: Ghostbusters 2016
Wait? What? Slimer has a wife? Unfortunately, yes. You can Google the latest Ghostbusters TV spot. Or, rather, don't. Because it's awful. At this point, I probably won't see it unless it shows up on Netflix. It takes a lot to haul me out to the theaters these days. And this doesn't look like enough.

Re: Ghostbusters 2016
I want it to be good. I love Ghostbusters, but I don't believe that any work, even a classic, should be enshrined as untouchable. But the more I see of it makes me less and less certain it's going to be worth seeing. I don't like Melissa McCarthy's line delivery, I have NO EARTHLY IDEA what the hell...

Re: The General Chat thread
I'm a writer, which means I spend most of my time watching/reading popular culture and trying to pick it apart on a molecular level. It's gotten to the point where I can detect the act breaks in a movie by looking at it, and I can usually follow foreshadowing to its logical conclusion. For me, if so...

Re: Books you're reading now
I recently picked up a Comixology Unlimited subscription and got myself hooked on "The Sixth Gun," a weird west comic about six mythical revolvers, supposedly fashioned by the Devil himself, and how the sixth one, the most powerful, winds up in the hands of a (relatively, this is one of th...

On the other side of that coin, this is the first time that an outside event has actually triggered an anxiety attack for me. It's always just been my own stupid brain up until now.
