Shandalar

So I've picked up the 1997 classic Microprose Magic the Gathering game Shandalar again. I suck real bad at the game, but thats not the point of this post (issues with old rules, timing, mana burn, etc). I'm looking for decks ideas that are pertinent to 4th edition, and use Power 9 such as they are i...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Grrr, probably shouldnt have read about the decks used in Pro Tour Philly. Somehow I've become a fan of a breachpost deck. Not so much a fan of how much it would cost, and that building one on my own (based around legendary eldrazis, through the breach, and the locus lands), its still stupid expensi...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Are your cards really going to get damaged in the amount of time it takes for the game to finish? Are you worried about someone accidentally dumping their bottle of whatever on the table mid-game? This isnt an issue for me, I play clean.

Or you extract it, flip it, and leave it out of the sleeve (*gasp in horror*) until its in the graveyard. I don't see the issue...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Ok, because I can't fit this question in 120 characters, it goes here. http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/A ... eature/144 Maybe I'm just not fully awake yet, but I dont quite get it. I can't target planeswalkers directly (shock in the article, or say, a bolt), but I can target an opponent and ha...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Ok, multiple reply. Robert - See Lyinginbedmon's comment. I'm a big fan of semblance anvil, exiling an artifact creature. theDreamer - The proliferate is mainly there for the foundry. My roommate has a golem deck (before NPH, so no splicers) that runs quite well with proliferation. The urn... well, ...

I think you're overestimating how much I know about the intricacies of mtg... But thanks for the criticisms anyway.

So I'm thinking of a golem deck, using foundry's and the splicers from NPH. Tips? Criticisms?

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Pulled a Jin-Gitaxias today. Not exactly sure how to use it in a deck. Unsure how to get 10mana relatively early in game. And would I be right in thinking that you draw 7 at the end phase, but still have to discard down to 7 max?

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

After so many revisions and refinements of my deck, I'm now pretty happy with this , and I'm gonna order some of the cards that I haven't got in it tonight or tomorrow. Didn't think Overwhelming Stampede would be so good, but it's won me pretty much every game. Only card I'm not sure about is Chanc...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

<snip> Whaddya Think? I'm thinking that any current blue/something infect deck that does not have a full set of Blighted Agents is doing something horribly wrong, so thats good then :) Other than that, I'd remove your normal damage creatures for more infect. Unless you splash black and use some Phy...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Ok, for now, I've finished tinkering with my discard deck. Here's the updated deck: http://www.mtgdeckbuilder.net/Decks/ViewDeck/78037 Worked well when I was playing with it last night, when I lost it was from lack of proper cards in my draw (and he was playing a blue control deck). But I was able t...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

I'm definitely going to make some form of a Golem deck when NPH comes out, so many "when card enters the battlefield, place x 3/3 golem tokens on as well, all other golems gain +1/+1"

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

So my roommate and I were out at a store the other day, I was getting cards for my deck (singles) and he was just there getting some stuff. Bought a MBS booster, pulled two Swords of Feast and Famine , one normal one foil. From one pack. The silver-lining of this for me? I crushed it the very first ...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Here's a deck I'm looking to build. Monoblack, and works around damage by discard and draw. http://www.mtgdeckbuilder.net/Decks/ViewDeck/78037 Should I go with 4 Liliana's Carress instead of 2 and 2 Megrim? I'm questioning why theres both when carress only costs 2 mana. <edit> Updated the deck, went...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Question for you all:

With cards like Grindclock, when you activate it and opponent puts top X cards from the library into the graveyard, Its not a true discard (ie Megrim wouldn't trigger, right?)

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?

Could go for some decently strong flying blues and have a couple phyresis to make them infect. Or go for a Corrupted Conscience and use other peoples creatures. :D

Well, I've gone and done it. Bought the Doom Inevitable intro pack, and a fat pack. All the while going through my head were lines from Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas... mainly "Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into locked a serious drug collection, the tendency is to ...
