Re: Game advice needed
I'd definitely recommend giving Starcraft 2 a go. I'm sure someone on the forums will have a spare trial code so you can see if it'll run on your laptop before buying it.

Re: Starcraft II-ness is upon us And IDs
Haha awesome! I'm currently suffering from withdrawal: I sent my phone in for repairs without removing the authenticator app from my battle.net account first. Oops! My wife did the same thing a while ago (she plays a lot of WoW) and Blizzard support sorted it out fairly quickly. Of course, I haven't...

Re: Concerts
That does sound like a particularly sucky concert. I saw Anamanguchi at PAX East in March and really liked their music. However, I too was disappointed after following them on twitter for a while. Lots of tweets about drinking, getting drunk etc.. I still like their music, but I'd definitely be less...

You showoff
I'm in bronze, so I don't think I'll be parading that all over the place. My Achievement point count is fairly respectable though, somewhere in the 1200 range.

Re: Starcraft II-ness is upon us And IDs
Updates! Played a bunch more league matches, this time as Zerg. I've largely resisted the urge to zerg rush my opponents, mainly because the first time I tried it my opponent SCV(!) rushed me first. That was pretty crazy. I think I'm getting better, and I definitely learn a lot from losing. Anyone e...

Re: Monday Night Combat
Bought this tonight along with Scott Pilgrim (making a nice round total of 2000 MS funbux). I tried the multi-player first which was probably a mistake because I kept getting owned by better players. Then I tried the single player and loved it. The combination of killing creep waves yourself and set...

Re: Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
Picked this up this evening, and had a crack at it quickly on my own. I think I pitched the difficulty too high, because I couldn't make it past the first level. Also, the game played slower than I thought it would. It seemed to take forever for Scott to get up after he'd been knocked down, for exam...

I highly recommend using App Engine for version 1.1. However, you would have to re-write everything as it does not support PHP. But python is better anyway, you know? ;P

Re: Starcraft II-ness is upon us And IDs
Woohoo! I finally played my remaining 3 placement matches, and got placed in a Bronze league. Which was exactly what I was expecting given my performance: 2 Wins, 3 Losses. My last 2 games were actually really fun. I lost the first to a bunch of cloaked banshees, completely forgetting that I could r...

Re: ClickQuest
For a game like this, you could even settle for it reporting every few seconds, and only if the total is changed. That probably drastically cut down on server usage, and prevent people from breaking it using click-bots. That's what my version does. Also, it's hosted on App Engine which means that i...

Re: Starcraft II-ness is upon us And IDs
I've found that the key to that mission is Reapers. They chew through buildings really easily, and can take down the zombies without a problem too. I didn't build a single hellion on that mission.

I agree. I'm particularly fond of the fact that all the missions are so different from one another that they never get tiring, even now when I'm going back for achievements.

Re: Monday Night Combat
I played this at PAX East back in March, it was mucho fun. To expand on ExtraSensory's comment, it's 3rd-person TF2 with elements of DotA (creep waves, skill leveling) and tower defense (base defenses) added. I shall probably be getting it once I get back from my vacation this weekend.

Re: Starcraft II-ness is upon us And IDs
I spent ages last night trying to get the last Mar Sara achievement for destroying 4 hatcheries on the defense mission. I finally got it at around 1am, which is waaaay too late for me to be going to bed with work the next day.

Re: Starcraft II-ness is upon us And IDs
Woo! I finally plucked up enough courage to play some of my 1v1 placement matches, and they were fun! I lost one and won one. I've been playing Terran so far (because I know how they work from the campaign) but I think I'll give Protoss a try soon.
