Well you could balance that by saying that every time you wanna make stairs or something to ignore checks you waste a Alchemic "Charge" say you get 4+Int Mod for first level or something.

You could always use the Pathfinder Alchemist and instead of mixing and throwing bombs you can have it be a "Perform Alchemy" ability instead which would make an attack based on whatever was around the area.
