I swear to God if one more person recommends I read The Hunger Games...
It seems to be appealing to a similardemographic as the Cherub series, which I really enjoyed when I was a bit younger. Would I be right in suggesting that?

Re: Riots in north London
It's all spreading pretty quickly to increasingly surprising locations. There are rumours that Reading's had some fires, and there was a ton of smoke coming out of the town centre in the tiny, apethetic town I live in The worst are definitely the stupid Facebook statuses such as 'we should bring in ...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?
I must have opened about 20 boosters since I started playing, and the only mythic I've pulled is Sheoldred, which is admittedly awesome. However, my friend has opened 8 mythics in 14 packs... For the M12 release, my playgroup and I bought a booster box and did a draft, which was aweosme, and I ended...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?
My friend pull 3 Mythics in 4 packs, and I had got none all day, so I got angry and bought my 4th pack of the day to try and beat him. My rare was a Magnetic Mine, and the most useful card in the pack was a Myr token

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?
Well, I went to my first draft the other day, as I really liked the look of them, and it was my store's last SOM block draft. I had a pretty good White/Black evasion deck going, then first-picked Tempered Steel in my last pack, and picked up as many artifact creatures as I could. I lost the first ma...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?
It's not really the control that will fail against Weenies and Elves, as long as you keep the Cancels and stuff back for their Joraga Warcallers and other cards that turn their elves into huge killing machines. But this whole 'take control of their creatures' idea would be amazing against Green Ramp...

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?
My rule for costs is unless I have ramp or a substantial amount of control, I keep it equal to or below 4CMC. @Icefall, It definitely sounds like a fun idea, but be prepared to crash and burn against any kind of Weenie deck (i.e., a deck with lots and lots of very small creatures that are useless on...

The wizards site has a rules PDF to get you started and a list of all the different formats.
But really, the best way to learn is to play with someone else after reaidng the pdf. Ask your friend to nerf his deck a bit to help you get into it

Re: First Pick: Cracking Some Packs
Blinding Souleater is such a good pick for drafts. - Leaves your colours open (although strongly benefits from White to be fair) - Controls whatever is strongest at the moment, and therefore keeps up with their curve very well - The 1/3 body is insane. In the Scars block, where there are so many 'De...

So, my last post here being forever ago and the same for buying cards, I was thinking of picking up the phyrexia vs coalition for 15 bucks and a couple of boosters, I've read good things on this and was wondering your opinion. It's two decks, and its got great reviews and said to be good for beginn...

It's just so annoying with this block, because the Mirrodin art is awesome, and I love the flavour of the Mirridon plane. Then the Phyrexians come and ruin it all! And this whole 'dark and gritty approach' doesn't look like it's going to go away any time soon, looking at all the promotional stuff fo...

Your drafting techniques are, uh, unique, I guess. It was fun to watch, if a bit frustrating at your lack of focus. I doubt I could do much better, though. I'm definitely looking forward to more of these

Re: Magic: The Gathering: Whatcha mean, there's no thread yet?
I pulled a Mental Misstep the other day from a booster I won at a tournament. Some dude asked if he could trade it, and I wanted to be all altruistic and shit, so I offered it to him for free, not knowing it's value. Then someone else saw what was happening and told me it was worth £6 or something. ...

Re: Magic the Gathering Online
I like the look of it, seeing as my favourite thing about Magic is drafting but they're hard to organise with friends IRL and my nearest game store is ages away.
However, I already spend so much on actual Magic, I really can't start up virtual Magic as well
