Re: Design a Card
So here's that creature I was talking about in the earlier post: Essence (2B) Creature - Alien Thief (Uncommon) Whenever Essence Thief deals combat damage to a creature add one mana of one of that creature’s colors to your mana pool. Whenever Essence Thief deals combat damage to a player you may ad...

Re: Design a Card
JackSlack, one last concern regarding the ultimate - another templating one. A nonpermanent card that is face down (manifest, etc) will end up drawing the game. You could get around this by putting each card under a random player's control (though the more random we get the more red it feels). Othe...

+1: CARDNAME becomes a 0/8 Wall creature with flying, defender and shroud. (CARDNAME does not lose loyalty when not a planeswalker.} -2: Until your next turn, each creature deals combat damage equal to its toughness rather than its power, and Wall creatures you control may attack as though they did ...

I feel like this line of thinking is akin to saying, "It's okay if you have a Black Lotus, because everyone else gets to have a Black Lotus too." If you introduce fast mana like this into any format (even Standard), you're going to have very swingy games in which the person who plays more ...

Banding isn't "declared" on blocks; it just applies during the combat damage step. From the comp rules: 702.21j. During the combat damage step, if an attacking creature is being blocked by a creature with banding, or by both a [quality] creature with "bands with other [quality]" ...

Also, I feel like if you copy a progenitor mimic with another clone, it'll also copy the copy ability It does. When Metamorphic Meadow enters the battlefield, choose a basic land type. Metamorphic Meadow is that land type in addition to its other types. The way this is worded, it doesn't work the way you want it to. Let's say you choose Mountain. That means that you now have a Mountain with no other abiliti...

You might want some insurance against aggro, since Perilous Vault is both slow and kind of a nonbo with your permanents. How about Aetherspouts? It even synergizes with the mill plan.

After he draws his cards. Essentially, you need to finish resolving Fascination before the mill triggers can start doing so. (The triggers are placed on the stack during the resolution of the spell, but don't begin to resolve until Fascination is finished resolving.)

A couple of solutions: ⋅ I'd focus on drafting online. It's probably the best way to just get better at Magic and eventually build up a collection. ⋅ Perhaps get into Pauper as a Constructed format. It has a pretty diverse metagame, with plenty of tier 1 decks that you can get ...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
The fact that it's a creature is not a qualifier for controlling it, just for gaining control of it. I'd like to add an analogy: if you had targeted an animated Gideon with Banisher Priest's ability (which says "exile target creature for as long as you control Banisher Priest"), it'd be c...

You draw, then mill. You basically need to finish resolving Fascination before you can start to resolve the Sphinx's Tutelage triggers.

Re: Standard Discussion
I know that Conley Woods was toying around with Dictate + Deflecting Palm earlier this Standard season. It ends up quadrupling the damage coming in because of how replacement effects work (for example, let's say your opponent attacks with a Siege Rhino, and you cast Deflecting Palm. As you're the pl...
