Re: Commander Draft Cube

Yeah, we're just using "locked in" diffrently. What I'm afraid might happen is this: a) In pack 1 I chose to draft legendaries with, say, a mono-red, Boros and mardu color identity. b) In the following packs it becomes clear that I'm entirely locked out of Red and partly out of white and b...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

How have I not seen the Manabase Crafter before? That's gonna save me a lot of time in the future. :) I've tweaked the deck quite a lot and it feels a little better. I still kind of feel that it doesn't really do anything until turn 3, which I know is probably fine for Commander but I'm unsure about...

Re: Commander Draft Cube

To be honest, I don't like the idea of essentially having to pick your commander in pack one. People might lock themselves into a color identity that turns out to be very fought over, and then they won't feel comfortable switching since the main chance at getting a commander is in the past. And that...

Re: Friday Nights - 'Tis the Season

I have to admit that I didn't get any of the aftercredit cards after the lieutenant. The referential humor there was just too sophisticated for my Scandinavian palate. Straight up pronunciation differences are easy to spot, but, like... Am I correct if I guess that an armchair is called a chesterfie...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

Thanks for the suggestions. :) I've been back and forth on Bolster, and there is some incidental bolstering going on with The Elite Scaleguard and Scale Blessing. I like both the Dragonscale General and Anafenza, they've both been in and out of the list during construction. Tbh it's one of those &qu...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

So, I've been trying to put together something that's built around +1/+1 counters, because I really have a thing for 'cute' card combinations, like Archangel of Thune/Horizon Chimera/Fathom Mage, Spike Feeder/Sunbound or Progenitor Mimic/Master Biomancer. Link Here . Having playtested what amounts t...

Re: Design a Card

+1: CARDNAME becomes a 0/8 Wall creature with flying, defender and shroud. (CARDNAME does not lose loyalty when not a planeswalker.} -2: Until your next turn, each creature deals combat damage equal to its toughness rather than its power, and Wall creatures you control may attack as though they did...

Re: Crapshots - Volume 3

Surprised Kathleen let anyone roll sushi off her. Personally I think I would have an easier time finding a pregnant woman to roll sushi off of than, say, dress up like an old gypsy woman and shout obscenities in a parking lot. The LRR crew traditionally does not place high value in appearing dignif...

Re: Design a Card

Memo, I think that land is fine, albeit a bit tricky rules-wise. So it taps for white, right? When I play it I choose Forest. Since it doesn't have it's own land type it's now just a Forest that also taps for White? I like what WP&P suggested about exiling basics. That has the added benefit that...

Re: Design a Card

Well, I guess that's a difference in taste; I tend to enjoy parasitic mechanics when you know you're going to use them in enclosed environments. Like Gatekeepers, Heralds or more or less the entire Mirrodin block. And, let's face it, it's pretty likely home-brewed cards are only going to see play in...

Re: Design a Card

Yeah, having an artifact hit the field feels like it would be good for something called Forge. I sort of like idea of having specific cards named. Just for a lark I remade the Thopter Engineer with a Forge keyword instead. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m240/havtorn_epsilon/Thopter%20Engineer_zp...

Re: Design a Card

For example a "Forge" artifact that lets you tutor for an artifact then, if you control the proper planeswalker, it gets a minus ability to put a noncreature artifact on the field or something for as long as you control it. Or an instant that let's you mill two and gives the matching plan...

Re: Help me finish my new Tribal Cube!

@susu.exp I knew about cubetutor, but I didn't know about the tagging option, thanks! I transfered the cube there and changed some stuff: http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/38023 Regarding the white warriors being red herrings, you might be right. Either the White or Black ones, at least. The White/G...

Re: Help me finish my new Tribal Cube!

On the input end it's a lot cleaner, you just add #Human #Warrior or whatever after the cardname once and Tappedout does the rest. As I said, good for "Sketching". I kind of thought the fact that it put them in diffrent columns was kind of useful. Basically each column becomes a "This...

Re: Help me finish my new Tribal Cube!

@SixFootTurkey I might be misunderstanding you, but as-is the Bramblewood Paragon (for example) now is listed under both the Elf and Warrior categories, adding one to both? Almost every creature falls under at least two categories, meaning they show up under multiple headings. I'm not at all disputi...

Re: Help me finish my new Tribal Cube!

The reason I'm doing the list on Tappedout is because it allows me to tag things with any number of categories quickly for exactly that reason. I had apparently mislabeled the Bramblewood Paragon to be a Human, though. Whoops. :) The numbers currently are Human - 81 Elf - 69 Warrior - 55 Faerie - 46...

Help me finish my new Tribal Cube!

Hiya. I put a tribal cube together a while ago that I recently decided to sort of demolish and rebuild. It was focused around a bunch of different tribes, one per Ravnica Guild, but the big problem was that since the tribes were color-dependent people just sort of picked one or two of the tribes and...

Re: Qwerpline #00

It took me a while to realize that this was some sort of improv-type thing and not really a traditional sketch. It didn't say so in the video description or anything. Or the video, I think (if it did, I missed it). I kind of assumed it was a sketch about a podcast or something until I saw the run-ti...

Re: Design a Card

Complete aside.. I kind of want something that makes 0/1's with deathtouch... Basically creatures that are quite venemous, they just aren't large enough to be a threat to humans (or dragons), use some magic to enhance them though... Alternatively a 1/1 with deathtouch that doesn't deal damage to cr...

Re: Crapshots - Volume 3

I'm not saying LRR can't be crude if they want to. But the punchline here sort of relied on me expecting them to be, which I don't think I will ever do outside of FD or streams. Which is part of why it worked so well in the first place in the sketches you all mentioned. When they are crude I never s...

Re: Design a Card

@Havtorn Well, uncommons are seldom sought after rares... Artificer's Trap on the other hand, seems too strong. Even if all you do is counter a three-drop, you're spending four mana to counter a three mana spell, and getting three power and three toughness over three bodies in the air, at instant s...

Re: Design a Card

I thought that the option/penalty of shuffling away your Reclaim cards could add fun tactical interaction, but yeah, looking back that is a way to powerful effect. I think I envisioned people being more attached to their Reclaim cards than is really realistic. you could really just put an ETB shuffl...

Re: Crapshots - Volume 3

Re: The Talk I realize they just wanted to point a camera on Beej and let him do faces for a while, but, well... Something to consider for the future, maybe: I think the family-friendlyness of all of LRRs other sketches kinda took the edge off the end. LRR, streaming and feed dumps aside, don't real...

Re: Design a Card

Ah, yes, of course. I updated the card to make you put the top card away instead. Regarding the Reclaim mechanic; I really like it. The neat thing about it is that it's a pretty clever way to get two different spells on one card, so I think it worked best on the cards where the abilities are drastic...

Re: Design a Card

But, uh.. Spell Blast was an uncommon in M14. Anyway, your card seems fun. Maybe a bit on the strong side, but the casting restriction balances it out, I suppose. Right. I just remember an inch-high stack of unwanted spellblasts in a corner. I guess we must have redrafted the uncommons too. I'll ag...
