Re: Wakey Wakey
In german, it's Shro-ding-gerrrrrrrrrr. Ding is pronounced, but then the G is pronounced again with a solid 'gare' with a hard rolling R. Don't forget the German ö (or oe) sound for the first vowel, which is made by saying a combination of "oh" and "eh" at the same time. :) edit...

This has got a very, VERY strong Frantics' "Last Will and Temperament" vibe to it.

HAHAHAHAH! You really captured the office environment and decision making process well. I also love that you didn't overexplain the last "phone call"; while watching (and laughing) I was seeing 2 ways the ending could go, and you definitely chose the right one.

Re: Tucson or Bust
I didn't want to post this until I had driven the trip again, but I can personally vouch that all of the desert scenes are real pictures from the actual Phoenix-Las Vegas route. I'm not that familiar with what's between Phoenix and Tuscon, but I didn't see any unfamiliar desertscapes in the video. T...

A number of things could probably be handled with an IRC bot instead of a custom client. Something to think about.

Haven't read the full thread, but Las Vegas is generally the cheapest place to fly to in North America, and has tons of group-rate hotels and inexpensive conference rooms/halls. Just sayin'.
(Of course, the hardcore can fly into Tuscon and take a bus trip there )

Re: BREAKING NEWS: LRR + The Escapist = Success
I know that's totally ridiculous, but is anyone else having that feeling so I don't feel like such a crazy person? Mine is similar, but from a different angle. LRR members seem to have a very self-referential, in-joke style of humor. That's what's naturally emerged from them simply doing what they ...

I wasn't on for much of it, missed a lot of the big events, but honestly my favorite part was donating what I did. I had no chance during the auctions I saw, but I did participate in some of the "Let's pass this threshold!" challenges. Some suggestions for next year: Post more rules. Rules...

You really have to decide why you're looking into it, and what you expect to get out of it. Some popular but invalid/dangerous reasons to be interested: ⋅ "Forbidden fruit" attraction of it being anti-traditionalist towards western faith (though it's becoming progressively more &...

Re: Costumes and Ridicule
I used to wear a cloak when I lived in northern Washington and had to endure the cold weather. I made it out of fleece, and it was the best winterwear EVER, basically a giant mitten for your whole body. I could walk 2 miles in below-freezing temperatures with only jeans and a t-shirt underneath, and...

It's nice living in the desert. Comfortable non-jacket weather all year round, with 2 or 3 months of real heat.
In the summer, we turn the AC down to about 83F (28.3C). Below 80F (26.6C) is just plain too cold.

Right, what does that have to do with the original criteria that Nobel laid out for his money to be given as prizes? They've been wandering away from it for years.

Nevrmore: Look up the criteria for the peace prize. It was supposed to be for actual accomplishments performed within the past year, lists the specific areas of interest it focuses on, all of which are at an international scale. This decision, and a number of ridiculed choices in the past, really do...

Okay, I liked the original movie even though it wasn't great, but where in the world did all this "That demon killed my father!", "lol you're really a human" and "I kill them to survive" come from? She's the last remaining vampire, and kills chiropterates (however it's ...

Many don't want to live the way they do, but they don't know anyway else to live. That said, it is possible to overcome drug problems, but you have to want to. It's not that they don't know anyway else to live, it's that they see all the other options as less palatable than what they're currently d...
