And I find out you ended up with Brain in the Jar. Hmm, how about this:
4 Duress
4 Asylum Visitor
4 Mind Rot
4 Ruinous Path
4 Languish
4 Grasp of Darkness
4 Nightsnare
4 Transgress the Mind
20 Swamp
4 Brain in a Jar
2 Pick the Brain
2 Necromantic Summons

Re: TTC 129 - CSL Week 1-3 Recap
My 2 cents on 2 of the cards I've actually brewed and played with: Tamiyos journal: Build around the journal and Briarbridge Patrol - you can use the Journal to tutor for any creature on your opponents 2nd Main Phase and get it into play in their end step for free. Add Tireless Trackers for addition...

Re: TTC 128 - Highlander Deck Techs
Since Cam mentions liking decks that play 8 ofs, here's a Standard deck I've been using for a bit: http://deckstats.net/decks/17108/468891 ... is-2016/en
8 Disperses
11 Boardbounces
8 counters that go online at 1U
8 Creaturelands
Fun!

Re: TTC 126 - C-C-C-Combo
Hmm, I think Aggro-Midrange-Control isn't that hard to define. Let's imagine a situation in which no interaction happens - so no creature gets blocked, no spells get countered, no hand disruption, no removal. For any two decks in a format you can ask: Given these restrictions which deck is more like...

deckbox.org may also be helpful. You can enter your collection and get at least a rough idea of what it is worth (though their prices are generally based on internal trades which can be off compared to tcgplayer prices).

Re: Design a Card
Regarding making Urge cards cheap, remember how R&D was confident in their ability to cost cards with Phyrexian mana? Never underestimate the value of getting 'free' mana... The problem wasn't the cost really, it was that the Phyrexian mana got around color pie restrictions. If a mono-green dec...

Re: Design a Card
Landlink - Highly problematic in how it interacts with the rules. Since the card itself is not a land it wouldn't count as your land drop for the turn and therefore you could just dump a couple of them on turn 1. I.e. these would function like Moxen that entered tapped. A better version might be: Yo...

Re: Deck Assistance
A lot of the Blue devotion cards are getting cheap as they leave Standard and One way to capitalize on the Grand Architect would be to replace the Military Intelligences with Bident of Thassa. And I would expect the price of Nyktos to drop in the near future as well. On the Standard Deck - I wouldn'...

Re: Pie in the face cube - looking for suggestions
I've looked for non-blue mill and the only real option are some of the mon-black Dimir cards from the Ravnicas. I added some white fogs, so there's at least the foundation of a mill deck in Orzhov - and that can be supplemented with an artifact or two. The main problem with mill in Simic would be th...

Re: Pie in the face cube - looking for suggestions
So, I'm at 6/10 for the color pairs: RG Skies UR Ramp RW Reanimator UW Burn UB Mana denial RB Defenders Which means there are 4 more to go: Orzhov, Selesnya, Simic and Golgari still need something to do. 60 of the free slots have also found cards. But there has to be something I can do with the 4 re...

Re: TTC 101 - Battle for Zendikar Previews
Yeah, if I am not mistaken it is correct that Hangarback Walker has an even cmc but not because it has two x's in its cost but because in order to calculate the cmc of a "x-spell" you take the value of x to be zero, therefor Hangarback Walker has a cmc of zero which is even. That is corre...

Re: TTC 101 - Battle for Zendikar Previews
Nope. The cost reduction happens after you check whether a spell that is put on the stack can be cast. As per comprehensive rules you 1) put Hangarback walker on the stack (601.2a) 2) give a value for X (601.2b) 3) Because the CMC is even, the game returns to the state before 1) (601.2e, 601.2 and 7...

Re: Help me finish my new Tribal Cube!
You might want to move your list to cubetutor - it has tags as well, but being able to have people do test drafts and checking which cards get picked and which didn't is helpful and the color coding for the tags is a neat option: http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/36897 has the current status of my P...

Well, Ephemeral Trickster seems pretty busted. It's a Brainstorm on a stick that brings its own shuffle effect (and Brainstorm is primarily busted where legal, because of fetchlands).

Re: Design a Card
Transforming to change what color it produces fits with an unstable world, but one that is more about change than decay. Well, one of the effects is that you need to tap for colorless mana to change the color. I think one of the interesting things about that particular design is that you basically ...

@Asthanius: It's more a proof of concept card and you could change the transform conditions. One rather straightforward option would be: Side A T: Add U to your mana pool T: Add 1 to your mana pool transform CARDNAME Side B T: Add W to your mana pool T: Add 1 to your mana pool transform CARDNAME @Ad...

Hmm, there is not a single white card that mills AFAIK (and that's just after looking through all white cards that have "graveyard" in their rulestext). A GW mill deck would only work through white "shuffle your graveyard back" effects probably supplemented by artifacts and fogs....

Pie in the face cube - looking for suggestions
I've started building a cube with a theme of "breaks the color pie", trying to get 10 2 color archetypes to work that are generally not these colors. For instance I got a nice GR-Skies theme with 25 cards (10 each or red and green and 5 gold cards). I think I can get there with RW Reanimat...

I just started watching, but I'll star by saying: Yay, for more live M:TG! 7secondleft mentions a more "normal" style draft and for 2 players there is Solomon draft - players alternate opening packs, then the player opening the pack divides it into two piles and the other player gets to pi...

Yay for Cams deck. I haven't heard what's in it precisely, but Sultai controlish ramp into VW is what I've been brewing over for a while and I'm fully on board for that. I'm not that hot for the Walkers, instead I'd consider Kruphix the god and Fascination (maybe even the prophet). Kruphix generates...

Re: TTC - State of Highlander
Yes. The Dance triggers the Spellfists abillity, which goes on the stack on top of Dance. The Spellfist gains +1/+0 and can't be blocked, then Dance removes the can't be blocked ability and the trigger (so if you cast something afterwards it won't trigger again) and makes it base 4/4 and gives it f...

Re: TTC - State of Highlander
If you cast Dance of the Skywise on an Elusive Spellfist, would it get the +1/+0 pump + unblockable from the Spellfist's ability, and then immediately lose the unblockable to DotS "loses all abilities" clause? Yes. The Dance triggers the Spellfists abillity, which goes on the stack on top...
