Re: Advice Thread

First things first, yes, Handbrake is absolutely fantastic, but only does encoding / conversion. No editing or anything of the sort. I'd suggest Lightworks. http://www.lwks.com It's a full on professional grade tool, that also comes in a free version. The free one has some limitations of output form...

Re: Gaming Desktop Advice

Couple of things I don't understand: You picked a full tower case, but a micro ATX mobo and an R9 Nano. Why? If you want a tiny rig, then at least pair it with a m-atx case too, otherwise stick with the full sized stuff. The R9 Nano in particular is a bad choice as it's significantly slower than a F...

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

So I finished Mad Max after exactly 50 hours. Didn't 100% it, but I did do the vast majority of side quests. Have to say I liked it a lot, yes it's somewhat repetitive but the core gameplay elements are very solid and it got a lot of points from me for art direction, atmosphere and generally getting...

Re: Gaming Desktop Advice

The 6700 has better performance / core, but is only a quad. Now it's true that games generally don't get much advantage (if any) from more cores, but if you're looking to also stream, the 2 extra cores in the 5820 can be assigned to OBS / Xsplit so you minimize performance overhead. Bottom line: gam...

Re: Gaming Desktop Advice

Here, this might help you out. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cBjLmG Basic config, feel free to go with other stuff if you'd like. I find cases in particular are a personal thing, so I just picked a decent basic one. And I'm personally a fan of liquid coolers but they're not everyone's cup of tea. Otherw...

Re: Arclight_Dynamo's Anime Frustration

I'd suggest pretty much anything by Makoto Shinkai . * 5 centimeters per second - is basically just a simple story of young love and loss. There are no robots, no samurai, no mystical anything, no violence, just a story about normal people, told in what I personally consider to be a breathtakingly b...

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

Finally found the time and motivation to finish Wolfenstein: The New Order(13.2 hours according to Steam). Turns out that despite being more than a year old now, it still has a ton of technical issues. Frame rate has completely random spikes, there's horrible screen tearing despite the fact that it'...

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

And Watch Dogs is done, after about 21 hours. Only bothered with the main campaign and all the side bits that are in any way involved with the story, but not every last fixer contract or gang hideout. I still think it's not bad, there's quite a bit of missed opportunity and it does have some themati...

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

Well it seems there's no point in me thinking what I'm going to play next since it always ends up being something different... Aaanyway, inspired by GPLP playing through Far Cry 4, I decided to dive into Far Cry 3, which has also been sitting on my virtual shelf for months, untouched. And I honestly...

Re: The General Chat thread

The Stallone version of Judge Dredd is also just a gigantic ball of cheese and it's wonderful, and for that matter so is Demolition Man. And if you want to go full on schlock, try the lesser known Class of 1999, which is a film about killer military cyborgs re-purposed as high school teachers. It's ...

Also in all seriousness, the emergency number in the EU is 112, though the UK also uses 999.

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

Well I was feeling kind of down for the past few days so I thought I'd cheer myself up with something ridiculous and fun. Enter Shadow Warrior , which turned out to be quite good. Great combat, surprisingly decent story, nice graphics and it was self aware enough to make the jokes and one liners be ...

Re: Just looted Game Sweden, aid me to sort the gems from ch

Can confirm that Lord of Shadow is indeed great, though it has a lot more in common with God of War or Devil may Cry than Castlevania.
The second one has good core gameplay, sucks at story and setting but it's still probably worth playing if you like the first one.

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

Well since it seems I simply can't be bothered to put up with Dark Souls' bullshit, I decided to go elsewhere. So in light of the recent announcement I figured it's probably time to actually finish Fallout 3 (and all its DLC). I figured multiple playthroughs of New Vegas would have desensitized me t...

Hmm if you've been in there for that long you should be near the end of that section.

You go to a snowy mountain area after that.

I really wish that game did a better job at explaining its ridiculously impenetrable crafting and combo mechanics. I never really got the hang of it.

I think so too, especially as I'm pretty sure the shot of his eye looking distinctly pale blue was foreshadowing. However this is one of the things that is the same in the books, so I may just be reading too much into that one shot. The only thing I didn't like about this episode is that it seems th...

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

Well because I turned on my PS3 again after many months of neglect, I may have accidentally the whole Resistance 3. (which was also on my backlog) I quite liked it. I think the Resistance series is severely underrated despite the fact that it's probably the best FPS on the PS3. I mean, yeah playing ...

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

Well GTA 4 is done. Can't say it was really worth the time spent, but at least I can cross it off the list. It mostly reminded me why I don't particularly like the GTA series or most open world games. They have too many different mechanics and for the most part none are executed particularly well. A...

Re: Let's play through our backlogs

Well this is something I need and at the same time dread doing. Right now there are 2 games at the top of my backlog: One is Dark Souls, which I figured I'd finally power through, since Scholar of the First Sin seems to have fixed some of DS2's issues so I'm planning top pick that up. Previously I'v...

I don't know; I tend to assume that anything released since 2004 is on Steam, unless I know otherwise for a fact.

And for the most part you'd be right, unfortunately DA:I is an EA product so it's exclusive to Origin.

The original fat PS3 also had magic touch sensors and for the most part they worked fine. Seems they forgot how to design things properly for the PS4 Anyway in more constructive advice, there's en emergency eject screw somewhere under the the HDD cover of the PS4. It seems that thing sometimes gets ...

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread

Are there sniper rifles in the game? I built my character at the start around the assumption there are. Yup, there are even a couple of unique ones and several of the weapons can accept scopes as a modification. With high skills and a sneak attack critical to the head you should be able to oneshot ...

I own all of them and I think Killzone is more or less a re-skinned modern military shooter.

It's not bad, but Resistance is by far the better franchise. The first one is not as good as the other 2 though, so keep that in mind.

The exact mechanism is not fully understood, but the theory that seems to make most sense is that birds possess some structures (generally in their beaks) containing magnetite particles and it is the action of magnetic fields on these particles that is interpreted as information. IE: the fields do n...
