"Petty" larceny is derived from "petit", and some states (including NY, I believe) still refer to "petit larceny" as the official term.
Note that this etymology explains why the alternative is "grand" (grande) larceny.

FYI, the Friday Nights episode you covered isn't on your site, or in the playlist on your Youtube channel--I didn't know it was online until I asked the Desert Bus chat, since I generally go through your site to get all LRR content.

Yes, there are "unsecured gator locations" in Florida. Is this surprising? They're wild animals, and dangerous if you mess with them but generally don't attack humans unless the human does something stupid. One might as well ask "wait, there are unsecured bear/moose/etc. locations in ...

Chandra, Roaring Flame = Chandror the Burninator
Pia and Kiran Nalaar = Key and Peele (note: I got this from AdmiralMemo)
TMC_SHerpa: The card you're thinking of is Sleight of Mind. I don't know if it would work timing-wise either.

Also, mechanic that I could see return: flanking.

US schoolkids definitely learn the Great Lakes, even if they live nowhere near them. (HOMES is the mnemonic to remember them.) Yes, going by longitude, Alaska contains both the westernmost and easternmost points in the US. (The International Date Line generally runs along the 180-degree mark, but sw...

A friend of mine moved around a lot growing up, but a decent amount of the time she was in Tennessee. As a result, she can turn a Southern accent on and off at will. She's also very intelligent--she has a PhD in computer science (and in fact recently became a professor). She would occasionally amuse...
