Re: Let's NOPE pre-voting

It was quite good, up until one section where the player has to hunt for some hidden switches. A combination of some perma-aggro'd enemies, really unintuitive switch-hiding (two of 'em were fine, one was a bit "really?" and one was "how was anyone supposed to ever find this?"), a...

Re: I, Horner

Oh my goodness, Cross Country Canada. I played so much of that game in grade school, since it was one of the few games on the school computers. I remember that no one in the class had any idea how to play (nor did we have the manual that listed where the commodities were) so most of the game time wa...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

As for hit percentage, it's been shown that XCOM 1 was perfectly fair on hard and above (and player-biased below that) with its RNG. I'd be surprised if 2 changed that. However, the enemy AI in 2 seems better, and the alien abilities are much better suited to disrupting squad positions, lines of sig...

Re: Watch + Play

Oh, the cutscenes were trying to be cheesy, but they did it wrong. My question is more how, after the complete failure of game 1 to be even remotely amusing, they got *anyone* back to do game 2. Then again for 3.

Re: Watch + Play

I want to know how they got "Lance" for three games. I don't believe for a minute that they signed him for a three-game contract for a new IP by an unknown studio, which means he came back for 2 and 3 despite knowing first-hand how horrendous the writing was. Horrible thought, do you suppo...

Re: Beej's Backlog

And now I'm afraid I've oversold it. :B

It's not a perfect title, but I find that I enjoy it more than straight Harvest Moon games, since it gives you so much more variety in what you can do, and gives way more goals and rewards to work for.

Re: Beej's Backlog

So I'm currently playing Rune Factory 4 , and it seems like it'd be right up Beej's alley. It's essentially Harvest Moon crossed with Zelda and Little King's Story . The farming becomes a much smaller part of the game, and the characters you interact with are much more diverse and interesting, and y...

Re: Crossing the Streams

Where'd you get that it's two-player only? Everything I've seen have had at least three (including the player). Though I feel like Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes would be kind of hard to stream well. Do they stream from the podcast area, with the 'player' using the screen while the experts are fa...

Re: Crossing the Streams

So, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes seems like it might make for a decent crossing the streams game. It's a "bomb defusing simulator" with a twist: There are two players, only one of them can see the bomb, and only the other can see the defusing instructions, so the two have to talk to ea...

Re: Let's NOPE pre-voting

Obvious suggestion which is obvious is Soma. Same people who did Amnesia, but it apparently goes for a more existential type of horror, in a sci-fi setting rather than a gothic.

Indeed, two tactics games in a row were fun, but it might be more enjoyable for some variation next.

Re: I, Horner

I think that Disgaea would be a great fun game to play on stream - its got a good mix of strategy with humour. The game has exploding penguins (Prinnies) sarcastic demons and the ability to create an almost mini army. Depending on which version you play would depend on the extras included The Disga...

Re: IDDQDerp

So, I know Alex hates being pestered to play games, but hopefully one-off suggestions here aren't too annoying. Standard caveat that I've no idea if any of these titles would be even remotely fun to stream, nor can I, not being Alex, know if he'd actually like them. This is just a list of games that...

Re: Checkpoint+

Only five more posts in a row until I get a free doughnut! :P

A AAA game developer has released a short game highlighting just how difficult it is to make a AAA title. It's not really a "think you could do better?" and more a "this is what we have to deal with all the time".

Re: Watch + Play

That was amazing. "Head and shoulders above Myst". Oy vey. The jokes that weren't just terrible were racist or sexist or just gross. The graphics were pretty terrible, even for the age. The gameplay had one neat idea (combining items with creatures to use them) which it barely used and the...

Re: Things on My Stream

The Ys games are quite fun, especially if you like Zelda -esque titles. Worth noting, though, is that there are essentially three styles of Ys games that I've come across: Ys I and II : wherein there is no button to control the sword, instead, you auto-attack enemies by "bumping" into them...

Re: Graham and Paul Let's Play

Has anything, well, changed in the Steam version? If not, I recall they stopped playing it because it got kinda dull (which, considering they finished Cursed Crusade is impressive) so I don't know that they'd be inclined to re-visit it.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

I quite like Valkyria Chronicles as a game, but I must admit that the cutscenes can be pretty eeh. They get better as it goes on, thankfully, as the characters develop, but they never really start acting as an actual military, rather than a clubhouse, alas. That said, the combat keeps getting more i...
