Re: Psychiatric history- does this automatically disqualify me from joining?

It's hard to say. I have heard of people getting rejected because of anti-anxiety medication. On the other hand, I've heard of people getting waivers for felony offences when the services really needed people. Obviously, if you could stop taking the medicines, that would be hugely in your favour, bu...

Re: TEXT DUMP 1

If we comment on the story about the sword in the lake, and don't reference King Arthur, do we get prizes? How about if we stay away from Monty Python references, too?

So, Amazon shut down one system. But they have more, right? Who do these other systems discriminate against?

TEXT DUMP 1

This thread is in the spirit of Feed Dump: weird news and maximum snark. I'll begin by posting a series of weird news items and the audience is invited to comment. Snarky comments only, please. Innuendo heartily welcomed. An eight-year-old girl in Sweden, named Saga Vanacek, has found a sword in a l...

Re: Books you're reading now

Just finished "Agents of Dreamland" by Caitlin Kiernan, a novella that ties in to H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. An agent of a mysterious secret agency investigates a weird cult near California's Salton Sea that has infected several members with something like Cordyceps fungus. This is a...

Re: Anyone else miss Feed Dump?

Are they done the same way? I get the impression The Panalysts is extemporaneous and semi-live; there are no do-overs. But I'm not sure whether Feed Dump was completely scripted or improvised but with do-overs (and some of the out-takes preserved as stingers.)

Re: Books you're reading now

Just finished reading "The Cruel Sea" by Nicholas Monsarrat. This 1951 novel is about the crew of a British warship assigned to escort freighters and hunt submarines in the North Atlantic. Awesome high-seas adventure based on the author's own experiences.

Anyone else miss Feed Dump?

I miss Feed Dump. The Panalysts is ok, but Feed Dump was better. Anyone else in the same boat?

what happened to the mobile site?

Paul posted about a new mobile LRR site in 2013, and the thread ran until the middle of 2014. Now the link (to m.loadingreadyrun.com) is broken; it returns 500.

What happen?

Re: Corrector's Commentary - Prometheus 2012

So how might the movie be improved? I think we can keep the ancient astronauts. They visited earth regularly for a long time, but a couple of thousand years ago they stopped coming. Why? We can keep the archeologists too, and the star map. No trouble so far. Weyland is a wealthy old man and sponsors...

Re: CC - Aliens

Alien 4 was interesting. Parts of it were good. It felt like they were doing too much. Too many segues into ideas that would probably make good movies on their own, but perhaps not part of the Alien franchise. Apparently both Alien 3 and Alien 4 were troubled productions, with a lot of different sc...
