Re: TTC 187 - MTG Arena
My major hope for MTG Arena is that the notion of 'bargain bin rares' is preserved in some way. Cards that are largely panned / passed over by the community shouldn't cost the same as the meta-defining rares of Standard, but a lot of TCGs don't pretend to make any distinction between them. Sometimes...

Re: SpeedrunOneWord Ep01 - Portal
So my biggest problem is that I didn't know exactly what the goal and roles were here. Maybe this was worsened because I had heard some buzz about this video before it debuted so I had preconceptions, but I had no idea what the 'rules' were on how much help James was allowed to give Adam to try and ...

Re: Crapshots - Volume 5
Whenever there's a "Deck Names" segment I always feel like I need a score card or something to figure out what all of them are getting at. Special mentions to the ones I'm really not sure about: Is the Izzet / Is It segment also a (tangential) reference to Oops All Spells? I enjoy the word...

Re: LRR Minecraft Server
Just joined DarkMorford's vanilla server, I have a terraces project started up alongside the river. You can find them around -740 / 230. It's best if you take the tunnel road out of spawn. I think I've finally figured out how I want it to look (bottom-most terrace) so from here it's just extending u...

But when you think about it, have you ever SEEN Graham and Kathleen in the same shot at the same time??

On topic: covering yourself in powdered sugar seems really uncomfortable. My limited experience with that confection ingredient has taught me that until you wash it off with water it just has this weird grimy texture on your fingers. I don't want to imagine that all over my face. Off topic (ish?): I...

Re: Overwatched [commodoreHUSTLE]
As someone with largely memetic knowledge of Overwatch, my favourite was definitely Alex suddenly yelling Hanzo's ult from the bathroom, which nearly got me out of my chair with laughter. Other high points were Cameron as "A Functional Adult" for matching how far a long video game binge di...

Re: Beige [commodoreHUSTLE]
I love the composition at about 6:04 - 6:21. Just really cementing the "two different worlds feel" with Ian in beige by the door to the beige outer building, then the blue pillar separating him from Graham who is wearing dark blue & the rest of the LRR Moonbase which has similar blue a...

It may be a big ask, but can someone post a break-down of the Secret Hitler endgame? Especially the part with how many fascist / liberal policies were left in the deck & discard pile, and their distribution. I'm really confused on if Cameron was lying about the math or Ian was lying about what h...

Re: Crapshots - Volume 4
I think my single favourite line from this last Dave's Announcer commercial is that Go-Karts can achieve speeds. The delivery leaves you hanging perfectly (Speeds of up to what?) then you just have to settle with "well, that is a true statement".

So first: I really appreciate the off-hand comment just before the crack-a-pack about "not going too far back in time". Because it's a recent set. That's also about tiiiiiime traaavel!! Overall with Shadows over Innistrad I'm a little nervous about how much Wizards is rewarding discard. I ...

I actually started being really okay with Joy being in the helicopter with Richter, and found the imagery of a father figure watching over you (however ineffectively) during rush hour traffic somewhat beautiful. Which is probably a sign of Nsburg further corrupting my sense of normalcy, but eh, ther...

Re: TTC 113 - Oath of the Gatewatch Preview
The interesting thing to me about Remorseless Punishment is just the "repeat this process" line. Since generally, your opponent won't select the same option the second time, even if they can. A 5 card hand can usually drop 2 without hurting too much, but dropping 4 forces them to all-in on...

Re: TTC 112 - Oath of the Gatewatch Leaks
I think the way you feel about leaks reflects how you feel about advertising / marketing as a career. There are people at WotC that work hard creating an exciting series of small reveals. And now someone has thoroughly undercut all of those moments, to such an extent that WotC couldn't continue its ...

Just goes to show that if you want a draft done right, you've got to do it yourself.
Also I really loved "the magic was in Alex's deck all along" as a Christmas Season Special style moral.

Kathleen has a lot of questions about reactions to a urine-arc. I sincerely hope that she never finds the answers. At least, that she doesn't find them out first hand.

Re: Correctors Commentary - Sunshine
The best part to me about Corrector's Commentary is getting all the themes of the movie pointed out. I wouldn't have caught explicitly how Pinbacker is sort of this transformed angel of wrath, or really understood (thematically) why he was killing the crew of Icarus 2 beyond just being Insane. As a ...

You could put Singing Bell Strike on it and untap it for an entire one colourless mana less. I think the blue/artifact synergy is pretty clear here.

It was kind of delicious watching Kathleen and Missie throw huge 10 mana plays around and have them be utterly ruined by their opponents using an elegant counter-play. Just... The way it took the wind out of their sails completely. Also "this mill deck never wins!" spoke to me. Also, I hop...

Re: TTC - Constructed Update
After reading those responses and coming to a couple different revelations, I think the important thing is: a creature with both undying and persist always comes back to life with some form of 1/1 counter on it (+ or -), and never at base power & toughness. In typical scenarios and a 0-cost sacr...
