Re: This is a thread for venting.

Ahhhh yes, the ant menace is a serious threat. My greatest fear is that the ant survived my frantic panic and made it back to the colony, in which case the ants now know our weakness!!!!!

Additionally the only pants I hate are the kind filled with ants

Re: Can we intelligently discuss civilian gun ownership?

I think it is more accurate to say "The handgun ban did not have an effect on firearms crime rates", rather than "The elimination of private ownership of handguns resulted in an increase in firearms crime." And the possession and use of firearms is not a right in the UK; it is, ...

Re: Can we intelligently discuss civilian gun ownership?

Perhaps not, but why infringe on the rights of those 57,000 people for arguably limited success? Also if it only effects 1% of the population how effect can it be? edit If we have established that most of the guns used for crime are procured from the black-market then what is wrong with letting qual...

Re: Can we intelligently discuss civilian gun ownership?

I think the end result is that everyone will view this data to support their own argument, myself included. People are going to argue about this one to the end of time. I personally believe that everyone has a right to a firearm after proper background checks and being certified by a trainer. If you...

Re: Can we intelligently discuss civilian gun ownership?

of course, guns are much harder to make, and much easier to control and track than a bottle of hooch. That argument also falls flat if you want to attribute the increase in gun crime to the stats you provided, as if the gun ban caused the increase in crim, clearly, it was only a temporary spike, si...
