Re: It's On - Australian Federal Election 2016
I'm looking forward to this election....hopefully whoever ends up winning can finally run the country. We've been stuck with minor parties in the senate dictating terms for nearly a decade and stopping any government that actually tries to do something. It's neither Labor nor the Libs fault that the...

Once again...ham raffle? We have those all the time around here, it's a prime fundraising technique. We also use meat platters as prizes at the local golf club occasionally.
Meat is always a good prize.

"Former Prime Minister Tony Abbot", who was kicked out last year and now we go to an election again this year, where we could get yet another new prime minister. Australia has a politics problem, we can't keep a prime minister for more then a few years.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
For a bit of fun (and editing practice) I cut together cutscenes and mission highlights from an entire XCOM 2 campaign. I think it actually turned out pretty interesting to watch, which is surprising since i haven't done anything at this sort of length before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NLtt0D...

Re: The End of Fight the Future
I don't mean to say that you aren't all great fans, but reading @Clypheous's post moved me because it's an example of our podcast being useful, at least in a tiny microscopic way, something I sort of doubted. Never underestimate how your content can reach people. I've just been through the worst ye...

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
I suppose I should bring this up, in case it's not just me. For the last 6 month (might be more) the live page calendar has had the wrong day highlighted. Now I'm in +10:00 hours (Eastern Australia), so we are always about 1 day ahead. The Day of the week and times are correct, just the 'current day...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
I think Cam has simply gotten unlucky in his game with such an early base defence. I've only ever had them in the mid to late game when I've had a full squad with reserves. Then it's much easier as you have the explosives or snipers to take out the beacon from a good distance....as well as the items...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
I've noticed Cam has been struggling with some of the patrols in XCOM 2, and thought I better mention this. Tests by players on Reddit have shown that if you dash while concealed, patrols will move towards you. This may be why they always seem to be homing in on Cam when he's trying to move around.

Re: The End of Fight the Future
Well I've just got to say thanks for the year of podcasts I've really enjoyed listening to them.
I don't think I had a 'favorite moment' from the podcasts, but the "A boy and his dog" podcast was definitely a high point in terms of your reactions to it.

(Yes, I'm quite a way behind on podcasts, but I'm slowly catching up, I promise...) The aside of watching war stories from different countries, seeing how they differ from the US, makes me want to recommend Tomorrow, When the War Began , for another case of "our country is invaded" told f...

Re: Fight the Future 22 - Knights Of Sidonia
I agree @DaMage! This was a very cautious, very generic work, seemingly solely made with commercial anciliaries in mind. So we tried to praise the moments of weirdness and individuality where we could find them. True true, I totally get that the whole point of this podcast is to talk about the stor...

Re: Fight the Future 22 - Knights Of Sidonia
I think your discussion about 'why do they have knees' is part of the reason these mech animes never appealed to me. Way to much of 'everyone does it this way, so we'll do it this way' regardless of if that makes sense or not. Everything you talked about seemed to be a cliche of the genre, young ups...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
So, with the new XCam streams, I've started tracking all the hit percentages again... trying to empirically answer the question of whether the UI lies on impossible (which the chat seems to take on faith a lot of the time). Spreadsheet hype! I'd previously run the numbers for one stream a couple ye...

Re: The Game Venting Thread
As anyone who has ever played Xcom, or watch Cam's streams of it you know how things can turn quickly. I have to share this game-ender that I just had. Was having a good play-through, had a deep (though injury prone) roster, 6 squad members unlocked by middle of second month, along with laser rifles...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
Got to say it feels good to see Cam playing XCOM again, his reactions to when things go bad, or he just gets super lucky, is just prime viewing experience. Really looking forward to him tackling XCOM 2 when it comes out, as it seems to fix most of the problem he has with XCOM 1.

Re: LRRcast - Christmas Traditions Part: 1
As someone from the southern hemisphere, I can say that there is no 'special' event once the days get short in June. But I can't really comment on how that feels to live in as I live too far north for the sunset/sunrise time to ever change much (sunset in winter gets about 5:00p, and in summer about...

One thing I noticed when you were talking, you mentioned the power going out as if it was a rare event. Maybe it's just where I live, but in storm season we regularly lose power, sometime for half a day or more.

Well, how long since I posted in this thread? March? Oh. So back in January I came down with migraine like symptoms with heavy vertigo, and in March I was getting frustrated with how long it was taking to get better. It's now the end of the year and my condition has hardly changed. I've had ups and ...

So I saved this podcast until I found time to watch the movie. Just watched it now that Desert Bus is over. The setting feels similar to that of Avatar, where the humans are in a superior position and want to wipe out another race for their own gains. Only in this case the other race is creepy bugs ...
