Re: Thinking back to simpler times...
I'm not that interested in the streams. Streamed video is also hard to share. You can't throw an hour-long-plus video at someone unfamiliar with LRR and ask them to watch 15 minutes of video to absorb enough context to get the joke made at 35:02. Short sketches are easy to consume and easy to share....

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by necro-ing this thread, but Brad was on to something. The possible implications the Third Amendment may carry in the modern world--particularly for government surveillance--are being discussed in legal circles.

I'm getting this error when I attempt to visit loadingreadyrun.com/videos/archive on both Firefox and IE.

EDIT: Huh. I was able to access the videos page after I logged in to the forums.

I Can Tolerate Anything Except the Outgroup.
Long read (very long), but I think it offers some much-needed perspective.

And everyone was okay with that statue? I remember a huge outcry against it and the company apologized for it. Also it was not used as part of the wider promotional material like the "beautifully executed" Hitman ads. It was only for the collectors edition, but you're right as long as the...

This is true for a number of crimes, but becomes muddier when the actual actions taken are not the crime, but the circumstances around them make it so. If we're friends, and I want to show you my new gun, and then also ask to borrow money, that's fine, but it's on me to prove it was friendly if you...

re: Windows 10, and big hard drives Cool! Definitely avoid Windows 8. re: skipping an optical drive Be sure you won't need one. First, the drivers for you hardware will come on a physical disc. :facepalm @ myself: I can't believe I forgot about a power supply and a disc drive. I generally chose a power supply with 250 more watts than I think I need. I've had bad luck with power supplies that totally should have been fine. In my case, a 430 watt PSU should have been plenty for an HTPC I was...

Metcarfre is right. An $800 build quickly becomes a $1300 build with a monitor, mouse, keyboard, operating system (OS) and speakers/gaming headset. Fortunately, those peripherals and the OS will likely be one-time purchases that will last through years of upgrades and new builds. Especially, your OS...

Re: Books you're reading now
I started reading The Stand , my first Stephen King book. My friend loaned me the unabridged version . Over 1400 pages. I'm about halfway through. It's getting a little weird. It's all harsh realism and then suddenly Randall Flagg starts levitating.... Anyway, I'm just hoping The Stand doesn't turn ...
