Re: sWs Ep14 - Summerslam, Backlash, Clash of Champions
I think Sliced Bread #2 refers to "the best thing since sliced bread," so it basically means "the best/coolest/strongest/wrestling-est thing ever."

I would like to point out that, in the LRRcast sidebar, the podcast title is shortened quite a bit.

Re: Getting into modern, need advice
Pendelhaven is fine to have instead of a basic Forest, but keep in mind that if you're relying on only one creature and a Pendelhaven, you're probably going to lose. This deck wants as many creatures on the board as possible. I know it seems counter-intuitive, but a couple copies of Lead the Stamped...

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Gamefreak's been doing a lot more with story in the series, though, which I really love. Black and White have direct sequels, X & Y have stuff with AZ continuing into the post-game of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and now it looks like there's a connection between X & Y and Sun and Moon. I ...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
In the latest story, Jace found something in Tamiyo's journal: "Beside the drawing is another sketch, showing one of the weird, twisted stones I've seen a few times since I've been here. There's a schematic quality to the sketch, and I wonder if the author of this journal is responsible for the...

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Not really sure if this even counts as an "issue", but when watching the replays on mrphlip's archive, the ads now play when they did during the original stream. It's not PART of the stream, because they can't be skipped, and this is a completely new thing. I don't even know if LRR gets an...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Correct. It's similar to putting Fallowsage onto the battlefield with Alesha. Fallowsage's ability won't trigger because it never tapped, it just entered the battlefield that way. However, there's another problem that you have mentioned in a roundabout way: because Liliana gets exiled first, there's...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I've always wondered whether or not I'd be happy if Wizards ever printed a mechanic that I thought of independently. And now I know. Startled Awake, being a sorcery that transforms, is very similar to a mechanic I designed called Embody, where you cast an instant or sorcery for a higher cost, which ...

Modern banlist, cards need to be altered to have post-modern style art.

Not sure if anyone's even going to see this, but what about Victim of Night? Unless the local meta has too many zombies and/or vampires, of course. Similarly, what about Golgari charm to counter wraths?

Re: The Magic Venting Thread
I don't know if this is necessarily the best place to put this, but:
So some cards from Shadows Over Innistrad were leaked. That's crappy, especially given the whole debacle over Oath leaks. But the worst part? The cards were leaked because they were up for sale on eBay.

Re: Wondering how this will effect Highlander
The official stance from Wizards is that proxies used in events that aren't DCI sanctioned are fine. If I understand that correctly, it means if an event allows proxies, it can't result in players gaining Planeswalker Points. If I'm wrong on this, please, correct me.

Re: Design a Card
I think it's important to keep the use of these cards in mind: They're going to be a gift to a family member to have fun with as pre-built decks. They're not going to be mixed together with cards that already exist.

In that case, you could definitely just replace "gains Round" with "becomes Round" since it's not as important for this to be perfectly adherent to the rules.

http://wpandp.com/Gaming/Undeserved%20Tablet.jpg When this enters the battlefield, you may exile the top three cards of your library. If you would draw a card, you may put a card exiled this way into your hand instead. Works in all colors. It's a stretch for red and white, but whatever. It's not un...

Re: Oath of the Goatwatch Spoilers
Ethan Fleischer's article mentioned that one of Oath encourages the use of multiple Planeswalker cards. I'm wondering how that could possibly be referenced outside of rare and mythic, unless it's something that deals with card types. But even then, I don't know what exactly it could be.

Re: Design a Card
Bushido is +X/+X when it blocks or becomes blocked. Rampage is weird and only triggers when it's blocked by more than one creature. Dynamic is supposed to be useful at all times, even (and especially when) your opponent has no creatures. I also feel like the fact that only one stat is being boosted ...

Regarding board complexity: Whenever it's used at common, the creature will have the same power and toughness, making the calculations as simple as possible. Dynamic N could be interesting, though.

Re: Design a Card
I think this is my favorite mechanic that I've ever designed: It's called Dynamic, and it's super-simple. Attacking creatures with Dynamic get +1/+0, and blocking creatures with Dynamic get +0/+1.
I don't know why I love it so much, but I do.

@JackSlack: You literally cannot activate the third ability without the use of another card like Clockspinning. That sounds like something that would never be printed in black border.

Re: Shadow over Innistrad Announced for April 2016
Wizards has said that when returning to a plane, they make a list of things that players will expect, and try to include as many of those things as they can without going overboard.
With that said, double-faced cards will be back. That's pretty much a given.
