Re: Feed Dump 287 - Spidersman

Corpse-Man, Corpse-Man, Does whatever a corpse can. Rots slowly, over time. Covered in dirt, dust, and grime. Look out! Here lies the Corpse-Man. Is he dead? Listen bud, He's been drained of all his blood. Can he decay in the ground? Just look under that burial mound. Hey there! There rests the Corp...

Kami of Ancient Law was the first Felidar Cub variant, actually. And Silverchase Fox may be dumb, but at least it offers a variation on the theme (exile instead of destroy, but costs mana to activate) instead of being just another goddamn carbon copy.

Wasteland is from Tempest block, Cam. A good way to remember the order of Urza's block is to keep in mind that the three sets were in reverse-alphabetical order. Laccolith Rig can go on an opponent's creature, and you'll still be the one choosing what gets burned. You missed Laccolith Grunt, Paul! Y...

I think I know why the flight attendants didn't serve that guy beer. It's not because they were out, they just realized that he was already an unbearable asshat sober, so they didn't want to find out how much worse he would be drunk.

I was pretty goddamn stupid as a teenager, (like most people) but I am infinitely grateful that I had at least enough wisdom at that age to recognize that everything with Tom Green's name on it was asinine, and, as such, never wasted precious moments of my life watching that garbage.

I feel that Blighted Steppe's nickname should reference the fact that it is literally an area where you Congregate . I'm pretty sure there's a word for that, but I'm drawing a blank. Crumble to Dust is so close to Sowing Salt that the only acceptable nickname here is "Sowing Dust". My frie...

That talk of Chandra being a magical girl reminds me of a conversation I took part in on MTGSalvation once about MtG sailor scouts. Basically, the conclusion we came to was: Chandra - Sailor Regatha Liliana - Sailor Innistrad Nissa - Sailor Zendikar Elspeth - Sailor Bant Tamiyo - Sailor Moon And Kar...

Hedron Alignment feels bad to open in limited, but you're always going to have rares like that. At least cards like Hedron Alignment and Biovisionary make some kitchen table Johnnies happy. And just a friendly reminder to anyone who might read this: Magic has changed colorless before; compare Caves ...

Re: TTC 113 - Oath of the Gatewatch Preview

Being more of a glass half-full kind of guy, to me Remorseless Punishment has the versatility to deal with cards/creatures/planeswalkers - whatever your opponent has remaining. If your deck has been doing well enough that there is nothing remaining to deal with, then Remorseless Punishment hits for...

Re: TTC 113 - Oath of the Gatewatch Preview

Regarding Remorseless Punishment, I'm not mathematically-inclined enough to know whether it makes more sense to evaluate the card as ten possible outcomes or as four possible outcomes twice, but the latter seems to indicate a more powerful card than the former. Ten outcomes is more accurate. "...

Re: TTC 113 - Oath of the Gatewatch Preview

Remorseless Punishment is actually considerably worse because it gives your opponent so many options. Your opponent has a choice of ten different ways of resolving it. Most other punisher cards only have two modes, so you can manipulate the outcome by casting them when your opponent can't or won't c...

The decks don't have a sideboard, it's just that the sorting algorithm for the decklists on the MtG website doesn't know what to do with cards not in Gatherer yet, so it files them under "other".

Corrupt was originally in Urza's Saga, actually. With the sweetest flavor text. Mind lash Sliver is a reference to Mind whip Sliver . Sure, Theros and the core sets had a tiny sprinkling of human-matters cards, which I forgot about, but even archers got Greatbow Doyen , and I doubt any of you will argue that your average player gives a hoot whether any given creature counts as an archer. If less than 1% of a set's card pool cares ...

Also, you guys have got to stop referring to human as a relevant creature type. It only mattered in Innistrad. Never before or since. That's one block. If you're gonna count human as relevant, then you need to count stuff like bird, beast, giant, and kavu as relevant, too.

Prophecy had this whole theme of getting benefits for being tapped out. (Back in the days when you could get mana burned for doing so.) That, on its own, is pretty iffy, but what's even worse is the fact that the enablers had you sacrificing lands. It's like: Person A: "Let me teach you this ne...
