Re: Vorthos Volleyball
Question: In his efforts to hold back the future, he has unleashed magic that tries to keep things from changing. Change is at the very heart of morphing and is therefore harder to do. Flavor Test: "The rifts in the AEther can be useful, I just wish they would deposit our troops on the ground i...

Re: LRRcast - Top Five Sketches
My 5, in no particular order: EVERYTHING IS FINE - I hadn't laughed at anything for a good long while as I did at this sketch. What's Going On? - The newsreader is an amazing The Couch - A great, well-told and absurd narrative that I just loved. Omnilingual - "I need thish mansh driversh lishce...

Re: Looking for SF/Fantasy book recommendations
Just got through re-reading the Robot series by Issac Asimov (Caves of Steel, The Naked Sun, Robots of Dawn). Good detective stories in a sci-fi universe. First two I'd say better than the third but all well worth reading.

Memo: Donated, and please pass on my wishes for easy surgery and a swift recovery to your cousin. For me, this is something less urgent. And takes a little more explanation. I have a friend named Crystle. I met her through karate. She was happy, funny and one of the few people who consistently told ...

It's less of a YA novel, but I find the future in CS Friedman's novel "The Madness Season" really interesting. But it does involve vampires (sort of).

I was just witness to a massive identification flood in the twitch chat. Everyone was talking about their gender identity and orientations. And you know what? No one that I saw said anything hateful, or derogatory or anything like that. And, not for the first time, I was very proud of the LRR commun...

Highlight for me has to be playing against Graham in the first round of that ridiculous Homelands draft we did. Thank you to everyone who was there and made it an amazing experience.
And thanks to Graham, James and Kathleen for being their usual awesome selves.

The Magister Trilogy (Feast of Souls, Wings of Wrath, Legacy of Kings) by C.S. Friedman. Some of my favorite fantasy novels to come out in the past decade.

For me, if I'm going to try and do it, it's gotta be during my break from teaching in the summer (though that does run into various karate commitments).

Currently in the middle of a re-watch of Babylon 5, one of my favorite sci-fi tv shows.
In terms of things actively being broadcast, I need to catch back up on Doctor Who and I'm current with Legend of Korra and the Walking Dead.

I've got a younger brother, younger by 4 years. Over the years we drifted apart for a while, but we've grown closer both in the fact that we share an apartment, and also through our enjoyment of karate.

For a mentor and general teacher, I'd have to go with Tamiyo, for the reasons already stated. She seems really calm and I'd love to discuss magical theory with her. [Sorin's] abilities on-card can always be summed up as "Oh come on" "For fuck's sake stop breaking everything" and ...

Under the definition above, absolutely I'm a feminist though again it's not a term I use for myself much. As a teacher it's something I try to subtly instill in the younger generations (I can only do so much being a music teacher and only seeing the kids once a week). There have been many times that...
