Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

So I got a Spanish Mikaeus the Lunarch on Friday and I want to build a deck called the Spanish Inquisition now. I need suggestions on what to put into this deck. Proliferate artifacts and tokens are one way you could go. Soldiers and Humans also have strong subtypes for mono-white tribal options. N...

Building a Prossh deck on account of the sad outings that my esper artifacts deck has had recently. Will post after I get my list cut down to 100.

Re: Do I just not get Strive?

Twinflame is a card that I expected would see constructed play (in a rdw or monsters), but has yet to do so. I am still holding out hope it will, and run a singleton in my rw deck at the moment.

There's been enough demand around where I am that my flgs owner said that he will be running several more over the next months. I am super looking forward to it.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

My store did a more simple "8-man pods, split into two 4P games, winner of each game gets 3 packs while everyone else gets 1" for the release weekend (at $15 entry fees), and everyone seemed very pleased with it. Then again, most of them were ready for another Conspiracy draft immediately...

flgs plays that planeswalkers can be attacked by anyone regardless of seating, so locally they tend to get one or two uses before they explode unfortunately.

Re: Gelectrode Modern Deck Evaluation/Tips

I know there was a variant of storm out there that used to run gelectrodes & wee dragonauts, but I am not sure how it has fared with the banning of seething song. It used grapeshots as payload, and had a couple empty the warrens in the board. That being said, storm is by no means a budget deck a...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

So I learned one thing from conspiracy -- black voting can certainly be a thing. In my pod I got the conspiracy that copies a named instant/sorcery and four (4) Tyrant's Choice. Add to that a copy of the bite of the black rose vote card, and one of the black creatures that makes anyone who votes aga...

Re: tokens tokens and more tokens commander deck

Every single creature in an EDH deck should be able to pass one of the following two criterion: 1) The creature directly facilitates the primary theme of your deck (ie: token generation, populate, buffing small dudes into bigger threats (anthem/archetype effects), or converting your excess dudes int...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I must admit that I am a little bit disappointed with Conspiracy outside of its limited format bubble. Here was a chance for them to reprint some modern staples, and the only reprints at all that see constructed play are legacy cards like pernicious, and exploration (and some foils of things like br...

That was my thinking and hope as well. It's a lot easier to move/split a full draft pod of packs than 1.5 :|

According to the official product announcement, at least.

That is what I thought it was, except the display box shown (with 2 rows) totally didn't look like it was 18 packs deep.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I'm consider buying a box of conspiracy myself if I can get one at MSRP. Despite initial claims, Conspiracy is not a limited product, it is print on demand. While there might be an initial shortage (the same way there was for Born and Journey) this is actually a manufactured shortage meant to push ...

Wow. VERY interesting. I was just baking on having indestructible Gods to wall up so Karona's bonus doesn't matter for the opponent, but those Vows look awesome. They either stop the opponent from attacking, or give massive bonus to yours. Very versatile. Spreading plague. All your gods are indestr...

Re: (almost) Modern Burn

Reforge the Soul is your friend. You could also run manamorphose to pull miracles on their turn if you wanted. I'd probably run burningtrees over marauders as well. An optimal (although expensive) version would probably run 8 fetches and 8 mountains for deck thinning.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

Peasent EDH? Sounds fun as hell. Count me in! Though, how many Legendary uncommons could there be? Where I play your commander doesn't have to be legendary -- any uncommon creature can act as your general. Some popular picks are guildmages (either the original rav block ones, or the RtR ones), but ...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

Anyone into peasant edh? The version played locally is 90 commons, 9 uncommons and an uncommon commander that can be an uncommon creature. Deckbuilding takes forever to finetune, but man, playing a format where there's very few boardwipes and power staples is sometimes so refreshing.

I won the major Saturday event at the store I play at going 5-0. Had a black box base, and a decent pool for b/g.
