Re: Control Deck Woes

There is no catch-all way to beat control, but it's good to remember what they're trying to do. Control isn't trying to harm your life total until they are stable. They want to keep your threats from killing them until they are safely at a point where they can tap out for their own. To prevent them ...

Re: TTC - What's the Pick?

I'm with Paul. The Pontiff may have BB in its cost, but it still leaves you open to go quite a few routes. You aren't even pigeonholed to Orzhov; you could make a slow, grindy, Dimir or Golgari deck as well that could make great use of it. Anyways, I just prefer to avoid taking too many colours befo...

Re: So that just happened (funny MTG stories)

Was doing a DGM Swiss draft today, and I end up with a pretty sweet BUG deck. Lots of good stuff; evasion guys, some buffs, some ciphered fun, etc etc. Anyways, the two highlights were Desecration Demon and Progenitor Mimic. Can you guess where this is going? Anyways, it didn't end up happening unti...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

Do any of you guys have a Commander deck you've built with "single-player" in mind? I didn't set out to do this, but found that my Rat tribal deck is really mean to people in 1v1 scenarios. The deck is really fast, as few of the creatures cost more than 2 mana. It is also mono colored, so...

Re: Best rules argument you've had

I do believe the Evolve one works like this: Evolve checks the condition twice, first when the creature enters the battlefield, then when the ability resolves. When Tristani's Summoner hits the board, the menagerie also hits the board, giving the evolve creature 4 triggers. In order to have them all...

Re: My first commander deck

I also run a Marrow-Gnawer Rat Tribal deck, the ultimate objective usually being to overrun people with lots of rats and tokens. A trick I enjoy is to get multiple Marrow-Gnawer activations per turn. Cards that can help accomplish this are: Thousand-Year Elixir Magewright's Stone Puppet Strings Umbr...

Returning to Magic after long Hiatus; It's LLR's Fault!

Damn those awesome videos! Grrr! *Shakes fist* I have just been playing around with the New Player stuff via Magic Online, but I am liking it so far, $10 well spent as far as I am concerned. But yeah, wow, the game is quite a bit different than the one I remember. Then again, that was way back in la...
