Re: The House of Stark

I'm really looking forward to Anor Londo adventures. That's where the game really took off for me. It's gorgeous, spectacularly huge, has interesting enemies...aside from those goddamn archers and figuring out how to fight the giant statue bastards it's great. These are both solveable problems. Wel...

Re: The House of Stark

But on the flip side, I probably spent three hours on the Taurus Demon. The hydra was a huge pain. Tomb of the Giants was torture. A lot of it just comes down to how you play, and whether how quickly you pick up the tricks for certain areas. Nobody likes Tomb of the Giants. The giant skeleton dogs ...

Re: The House of Stark

Last but not least: you can upgrade your lightning spear to +5 in Anor Londo (the next area). I wouldn't save your souls for that though, because you WILL die before you get to the blacksmith. Let's just say, if you didn't like the archer shooting at you on a narrow walkway in Sen's...you'll REALLY ...

Re: The House of Stark

Just for a super-quick primer on weapon stat scaling: http://i.imgur.com/hIjT4qF.png The parameter bonuses (stat scaling) shows up as the + damage to the right. The damage column on the left is the weapon's base damage stats, without scaling. Essentially, the two circled items are linked...

Re: The House of Stark

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that's super creeped out by the sound Frampt's teeth make as they chomp together...it got to the point that I ran straight past him as quickly as possible, to escape the sound. Also: you can buy fireball from the pyro trainer for 800 souls. It's the cheapest pyroman...

I KB&M'd my way through NG+ and an SL1 run.

And even I think the keyboard controls are garbage. I'm just too cheap to get a controller.

Re: IDDQDerp

Oh man...I have 62 hours into Just Cause 2, something like 60% completion. The map is absurdly massive, filled with things to explode, and leveling up the heavy machine gun makes it into a slaughterhouse. JC2 is ridiculously fun and (clearly) right up Alex's alley. I'm actually really surprised he h...

Re: The House of Stark

Where was it that someone tried to tell me Dark Souls was "a multiplayer game with single player elements"? That wasn't here was it? People were saying it again on Friday, when Cam/Alex were streaming. Personally I think that the problem with PvP on this game is that it feels out of place...

Re: The House of Stark

The point about there "not being that many noob hunters" is somewhat undermined by the fact that we had a confessed noob hunter (talking about how it filled them with joy) in the chat the whole time. Yes, what was that, 1/500-600 viewers? Yes, Dark Souls is not beginner friendly, and it's...

Re: IDDQDerp

I feel like we've almost run out of possible candidates. Kathleen gets motion sickness from a lot of games, and PC Dark Souls has some weird framerate issues...and Jer seems far too busy to get into something as involved as Dark Souls. I think James is the most likely candidate left, out of the stre...

Re: Friday Nights: Hero's Path - The Mastery

"Mind Grind for 1"

Alex confirmed history's greatest monster. But also, history's funniest greatest monster.

Seriously though, this episode was solid gas, and the stinger was a stick of dynamite thrown on the pile.

And the explosion was comedy.

I might've lost track of this metaphor.

Re: IDDQDerp

I ended up not liking most spears because they only have a thrust attack, and not a sweep attack for when there's multiple enemies around. To that end, I recommend the silver knight spear or the partizan, which have both a thrust and a sweep, real useful to have the variety available and the stats a...

Re: IDDQDerp

Bastard sword is slower, so it isn't *strictly* better. It seems fine, but I have a Zweihander for my big bazooka sword already and I love that stupid thing. Huh. I thought swing speed was based mostly on weight, which they're equal on. It's certainly easier to get/use twinkling titanite than the p...

Re: IDDQDerp

I don't know if Alex reads this forum at all, but it's also worth noting that a +15 Bastard Sword is very nearly a strict upgrade on a +5 Silver Knight Sword (same base damage, better stat scaling). Similarly a +15 claymore has very close base damage (257 vs 262), better stat scaling and (I think) l...

Re: IDDQDerp

I am so, so sad that I missed Alex trying to fight Artorias. Here's my advice for you Alex: for a dodge-rolling character, Artorias is the hardest fight in the game. He's fast, several of his attacks are stamina-depleting chains, the motion tracking on his attacks is insane, his reach is also insane...

Re: Crapshots general no.01

Crapshot 139 never went up on the LRR site for some reason, I only found it because of this thread.

Looks like we have a job for felt-Paul. I mean, except for the fact that his reach is probably too small to effectively use a keyboard, and also he's a puppet.

Re: NEW VIDEO - Krogslist

Something about the clash between the multitudes of anachronisms (all beautifully lampshaded) and the really well done costumes/props just killed me. It's like The Flinstones via SNL. The recent crop of videos has been so consistently great I'm starting to wonder if my kickstarter contribution was s...
