Re: EVE online

Edit: Also, last year CCP discontinued the "Classic" client (which was the one with the "old" graphics engine). The new client is generally more-intensive, but it does have some low-grunt settings. I just don't think it will run very well on the Intel IGP. Ah, I was not aware of...

Re: Headsets

I have a pair of Razer Carcharias headphones (I can't pronounce the name either). They're great. Really comfortable, over-ear. I would recommend them to anyone with the budget.

Perhaps, but Eve has two graphics engines: an 'old' one and a 'new' one. The old one would probably be ok.

Re: New Scott Pilgrim trailer

OK so the trailer looks pretty sweet. Also Anamanaguchi is doing the title theme, and I LOVE Anamanaguchi. So maybe I will end up seeing this. It looks pretty ridiculous, but maybe in a good way! But only AFTER I finish the comic. Anamanaguchi are actually doing the score for the video game, not th...

Re: New Scott Pilgrim trailer

I'm currently in the middle of the 3rd book. Does anyone know if the movie covers all of the books or only the first one? It covers all six. However, because the script was finalized before the sixth book was written, O'Malley has stated that the movie's ending is very much the movie's ending, and ...

YES. SO VERY YES. If there are midnight showings of this (I don't know what the criteria is for whether a film gets a midnight showing or not) then I'm going to be at it. If not, then first thing in the morning. Screw work, this is more important.

Re: EVE online

Oh man, Eve Online. I used to play. I had an account that I started and stopped playing many times. Ultimately I think I wanted something out of it that wasn't there. Having said that, the walking in stations stuff looked pretty cool when I saw it a while back. Did that make it in yet?

I really liked the beta of Blur. I'm currently deciding if I should pick it up for PC or 360 (bearing in mind that I don't have Gold membership).

I haven't read anything in a while, but if you're looking for SciFi then I recommend Iain M. Banks' Culture series.

Re: Stuck in the middle of a game decision

Unless you have 3 other people to regularly play with, I'd go for TF2 over L4D2. Left 4 Dead is a great game, but you really really need regular friends to play with. When the first one came out I was playing at lunchtimes at work with my co-workers, and we had a blast. When the second one came roun...

Re: Future Films: A Thread for the Movies of Tomorrow, TODAY!

Definitely not excited about 3D star wars. I loved Avatar and I think that 3D movies in general are a good idea. However, going back and 3D-izing old 2D movies cannot end well. Seeing as you have to start with an image taken in 2D, the 3D conversion will never look quite right.

They posted on their Facebook that it gas been filled. Maybe that's where you saw it, Dave. Unless it cross-posted to Twitter, I doubt it. I don't think I even follow LRR on Facebook (Which is academic at this point as I'm in the process of having my account deleted). Still, nice to have confirmati...

Re: The pretty lady thread

Going back to the women in uniform... Nothing wrong with them, why all the hate for the military? A girl who can defend herself is actually rather attractive. Independent women, perhaps you could say. That may or may not have something to do with the fact that I create female characters in video ga...

Re: Completed Games

I tend to abandon games part-way through if I hit a particular level, boss etc. that I can't beat. I can't think of a single-player game (apart from sandbox games like GTA) that I've gone back to for achievement purposes. Multiplayer is different though, I've definitely gone into games of TF2 and MW...
