Re: New Quest Available!
Thurs PM/Fri - 7 hours, then another 1.5 after 4 pm. Fri PM/Sat - 9 hours-ish, interrupted by a couple short bathroom breaks. Sat PM/Sun - 7.5 on the nose. I am looking forward to resetting my clock with school/work starting back up again. That means a regulation of my sleep and wake up times, which...

Re: New Quest Available!
Tuesday night/Wed AM got too much sleep. (Migraine)
Wed night/Thurs AM - got 5 solid, another 2 rough interrupted hours. Followed by an hour nap this evening (after an emotional outburst/cant-breakup-if-youre-not-in-a-relationship breakup)
Tonight will sleep well, and up early. In training tomorrow.

Slept from 11pm - about 3 am... got up and wandered the house, sprayed bug spray (why I woke up...), let the dog out, got a drink... eventually fell back asleep about an hour later. Slept from 4-9ish.

Do we have to get it all at once, or do supplemental naps count?
It's summer, its miserable... naps rule.

Didn't do any reading... but I did spend some quality time outside. Sat on an old log bridge and fed the catfish at my parents pond... hopefully that counts. Was too damn hot to sit outside and read. Heat index has hit 105 around here this week.

I. hate. summer. colds. Congestion should be saved for winter when you can cuddle and wallow and drink hot soup. Not when it's 90 freakin' degrees outside and you feel like you're walking through a sauna.

Maybe this should have its own thread, but I've been wondering...
There seems to be a correlation between low-self-esteem and high-achieving academics. Has this been studied? Has a causation/treatment been identified?

Family reunion. Cousin is 9 months prego... due in the next two weeks. I am happy for her... give her daughter a younger sister and gives another precious baby to cuddle during the holidays this year. It's miserably hot, and she's struggling. I ask her if there's anything I can do for her. "Not...

My biggest observation so far as been the gasoline and miles I have been racking up this summer... I've driven more in the last two months than probably in the last two years. Hazards of a Long Distance "Seasonal Partner in Crime" (not exactly an LDR), but still. Granted, my daily commute ...

Re: The Life, The Universe, and Everything Thread
I consider myself an agnostic theist... which is a little strange, I realize. I have major issues with religion. Modern Christians drive me bonkers with the way they pick and choose from The Bible, and ignore the way the bible contradicts itself. I have come to view The Bible more as a book of fable...

Is there a term of the feeling that happens when your thoughts and your feelings are in conflict? I have been fighting this a lot lately... when my brain tells me one thing, but my feelings say something else? I hate it... oh do I hate it.

Let me start by saying this is a very educational thread and a well-reasoned debate. I do appreciate that very much. However, the teacher part of my brain is picturing one of my 50-some year old lady coworkers sorting her 2nd grade students by saying "Vaginas in this line, Penii over there.&quo...

My friend is coming over Thursday evening to drop off his dog so I can pup-sit for the weekend. I will be making him a full country-style dinner while he is here. Roast beef, green bean casserole, twice baked potato salad, and hot rolls. Edit / Update: Dinner went well... aside from one of the dogs ...

WRT 'Snark' I read the first two 'chapters' and while it is interesting in concept and structure, I wasn't as absorbed in the story as I would like to be. The lyrical pattern, while interesting and unusual, got old quickly.

Re: Venting Thread Delta - Now With Easy to Follow Rules
OMFG, self... its four letters that work together to form a word... a word that for most people has a positive connotation. Why does it ALWAYS bring you to tears? Why can you not shake the association to lies, to betrayal... the instinctual reaction to run? Gah... Grow up, lady! Get over it!!
