Re: Back when I was your age...

"I really miss just seeing kids on bikes, you know? " I still see those and my neighbors kids playing outside all the time. Why is it that you seem to think this is an argument? This is the internet! A place for battles of epic proportions! A no holds barred match fit for only those who d...

Wait your post qualified as an argument? What's wrong with countering one anecdotal err tale with another?

Yeah but Gone With The Wind was released in theaters multiple times, back before home viewing of movies was mainstream

Re: Paul may have 3 PS3s, but the US Air Force has 2536 PS3s

The air force isn't the only one using them

This is sad though, why can't the US government make their own super computers or at least get custom ones made?

For God sakes didn't they play a big a role in making the freaking internet?

Re: Visiting your past self.

If we're going by the single-timeline scenario, as soon as I found out, I'd laugh my fucking head off. And I'd presumably find less-traumatic ways to mess with myself after I realized that it was I who stole my bike. And I'd give my bike back. That reminds me of number 7 on the list (and yes I'm fa...

"Why would you mess with your past self?"

For science
For fun.
To see how life was back then as the ultimate cure for nostalgia.

Re: Visiting your past self.

Like once a month, I'd completely rearrange my furniture while my past self was at work. Ha ha. Me and my friend used to do this to his mom all the time. Except we'd face the couch away from the tv, or switch the end table with the kitchen table. Since she lived alone and didn't have anyone to help...

Re: Back when I was your age...

I've only had a phone for a brief period, and got rid of it since I never used it. I have no need to be in constant contact with everything and everyone, and if I need to contact someone, I'll find a landline (or boot up my laptop.......but still). I enjoy today's technology (and being in computer ...

I miss not having thousands of electronic ways to fill our every spare moment, so people would actually had times while they waited for something to finish, etc. and would...I dunno... talk to another person . Re: Visiting your past self.

Interesting constraints for time travel. Still... I typically never get a proper chance to visit the recent past, so I think I'd go back and spend time discussing the various long-term projects I've worked on or started since the year I would travel back to. Basically give myself some guidance on p...

I just thought of an experiment, go back in time 1 year, see if it's possible for my younger self to trick me or outsmart me in anything.

Visiting your past self.

Let's say you had a time machine, but this here is a prototype time machine that only lets you travel to years you were alive in and can't travel to a date beyond the present (so no 2011). So you decide to hang out with your younger self. What would you bring back from 2009 and what would you do wit...

I remember when I was a kid I always thought the future (as in a couple decades) would be very similar to back then, and that there wouldn't be any more ultra revolutionary Earth shattering inventions, like the car, the telephone, the light bulb, the printing press, or the computer. Then the interne...
