Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

Talk yourself through your plays (it's easier on MTGO but do it in your head if playing live.) And make the effort to go through every single option on the table and in your hand prior to committing to decisions. That should get you to getting a small share of wins, at least. The next step is "...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

So... as a possible suggestion for future Cammander theatres of operations... I've started playing Europa Universalis IV, and for what it's worth, it's nowhere near as hard to get into as I was led to believe. Definitely something I'd like to see Cam try at some point, if only because of all the awe...

Re: Video Games with Video James

You know what - if you're interested in adventure games, Yahtzee's first three Trilby games (5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Skeptic and Trilby's Notes) are worth playing, if only for the climax puzzle of Trilby's Notes. The last game is a definite skip, and the first two can be skipped as well as long ...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

Yeah - Valiant Hearts was something.

Not sure if I want some ironic death train like XCOM with Long War or something whimsical to return to a less emotional/contemplative mood.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

Harder than Impossible? Two things:

1-Yes plz.

2-Those poor, poor rookies. I think the list of would-be rookie should be expanded to include everyone in chat (and possibly the chat of the official LoL stream, just so we're sure we won't run out)

Re: NEW VIDEO - Drugs, Drugs, Drugs

Looking at the credits, I imagine the poor Jessica Parker who was getting ready for her exams in an empty classroom, only for the LRRcrew to rush in and start filming without even realizing she was there.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

One suggestion I made in the chat once: the crew should play a game of Dominions 3 together. Each of them streaming their plans (and, of course, showing us the hilarity when said plans come in contact with the enemy.) For single-player: I'm open to anything, as long as it can go wrong in all sorts o...

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback

The Let's NOPE was amazing.

Hope to see more of this (and not just horror - I enjoyed the "four people stream a short game they haven't played" format more than I did seeing Kathleen get progressively paler as the game went on.)

Re: Writing Thread!

Out of curiosity, are you guys planning on trying to get published, or do you write "just for fun"?

In my case, I'm absolutely hoping to get published. I'm not sure if it's a realistic hope, but it's the end-goal for that novel.

Re: Writing Thread!

Well, I'm going through the first rewrite of my urban fantasy novel. Some thoughts: 1-It's amazing how much my writing improved between chapter 2 and chapter 8. 2-My first reader thoroughly enjoyed chapter 1-3 - admittedly he's a friend, but he knows how important it is to me to get accurate feedbac...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

I'm sure Cam's next save file will be a winner. /deadpan

I do think that at some point, Cam should switch to "self-enforced" Ironman, if only to cut down on replaying the intro mission over and over again.

And... done! Shitty First Draft completed!

Next step: finish first diagnostic reading. That's doable before the end of the year, too. Then Operation: Edit Like A Mofo can begin.

Re: The General Chat thread

So, I just killed off the "mentor" character in my novel. It's a Hero's Journey/Origin story, so this is effectively the climax of the book. So, on one hand... Yay! Only one chapter left to write. But man, that was a hard chapter to write. A really tough scene to set up, describe, and exec...

Re: The end of PATV and PAR. Is this the end of CheckPoint?

I just hope that this isn't a huge financial blow for the crew. I'm sure that they've known about this for longer than us though, so hopefully those numbers were already factored in the Kickstarter.

1-You go to Desertbus.org
2-You create a donor account (otherwise you'll end up logged as Anonymous or not get to keep your username or whatever)
3-You go back to the Desertbus.org homepage
4-if Desertbus is running, there will be a big CHAT button below the video. Click on it, login, and you're in.

Someone (I think it was Ben Bleiweiss) made the Exploding Wurm deck with the Epic red spell. Basically, fling those ginormous casting costs card at your opponent.

Obviously, it's terrible if you don't build around it.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

So I decided to sell some of my cards to card kingdom because my local store doesn't have a few cards that I am looking for. I sent them a week ago and haven't heard anything. I'm not worried about card kingdom doing something shady, I just don't trust Canada post cause it's Canada post. Does anyon...

Re: Internet Opinions

The video was great - clever and fun. However - slight technical issue: lots of black screen before the video starts, and no sound over the logo. (Also - lots of black at the end of your Checkpoint video) I mean, it's not like it affects the enjoyment of the product or anything, but I guess you guys...

Re: NaNoWriMo

So, I'm still running up my word-deficit, but at least I'm past my roadblock scene. I am NOT looking forward to that rewrite.

Knowing myself, I'll plod through my final confrontation bit by bit, then I'll see the light at the end of the tunnel and push out the epilogue in an evening anyway. :)

Re: NaNoWriMo

I'm horribly behind on my count - I literally did not have a single second of free time on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday and Monday were spent recuperating. Goal for the next few days is to do 2000 words/day, to at least get started on catching up. Gotta get in the NaNo mindset - I've started look...

Re: NaNoWriMo

So, two days away from starting the official NaNo writing. At this point, I'm a shade over three chapters away from finishing my Shitty First Draft. More precisely, I've started chapter the Third-to-Last, but I'm also planning on a short epilogue so I'm actually maybe 300-500 words away from the off...
