Re: Homebrew Hobby

It is a very good video. The writing is really good, the technical side (lighting, camera work, etc.) is great... It is a very, very good LRR video. If anything, it's a bit *too* tightly written. There aren't any extraneous characters, unnecessary scenes or wasted lines. Everything is neat and order...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I like the new beta, but I do hope that they're planning a round of optimization (or three) before they run it out officially. The thing is terribly unresponsive (and it's not a "my computer sucks" issue either.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

Bad: not managing to build your deck in time (in a draft) and having to play game 1 of each match with 80 cards.

Good: winning the draft anyway :)

Yeah. I felt like bragging a bit.

Re: Gatecrash - first impressions

Sure, I get that. But it seems there's more of those completely unplayable in Limited cards in GTC than in RTR or M13.

I'm not saying that it's a problem, either. I'm all for having formats not being the same :)

Gatecrash - first impressions

So, since I started playing, I've been drafting mostly RTR, figuring that I'd use the huge backlog of accumulated videos by LR and LRR as guides. I tried my hand at Gatecrash a couple of times, and there're a few things that really bother me. First, there seems to be an unusually high ratio of compl...

Re: Advice Thread

TLDR: Opportunity in front of me, but it would require give up pursuing the title of Doctor to be able to go see one? How rare are opportunities in your field? 30 minutes isn't a long commute (assuming it's 30 minutes during rush hour, of course - if it's 30 minutes normally, 2h during rush it's pr...

I have a problem. As soon as I learned Kathleen would be representing Simic... I just knew it was a Dimir front.

Re: 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Oh - and on the dreaming side, I wish we get a Ducks/Habs finale.

Sure, the Habs winning the cup would be best, but Koivu winning the Cup in Montreal would be a close second. :)

Re: 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs

And what a difference a game makes. Credit where credit is due: Anderson won that first game for the Sens. Losing Eller alone would be a significant blow, no way the Habs win tonight without Gionta and Pacioretty as well. Unless Price finally steals a playoff game. Not crossing my fingers on this on...

Re: 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs

I was just about to create that thread, too... EAST: Pittsburgh in 5 - I really think the Islanders have an interesting core of youngsters going forward, and they would have been a credible threat to almost any team, but not Pittsburgh. Montreal in 6. I'm a Habs fan, but IMO the Sens just don't have...

Re: MTGO Academy Drafts - All

A suggestion: if you ever do the 23rd-card challenge again, I'd tweak the rules a bit, to allow you to stick to maybe three colors and pick up some fixing.

Five-color is bad enough on its own I think. But it was fun to watch (although it reminded me of some of my drafts :) )

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I really dig the cluestones. Early fixing/ramp that turns into card draw later on seems like it should really smooth out limited decks.

I imagine that means the more marginal keyrunes will go way later.

Re: My First Draft Victory

I'm still flailing around incompetently most (all?) of the time, but two of Marshal's lessons really help me (or at least, I do better when I keep them in mind) 1-Don't bother thinking about what signals you're sending, focus on reading the signals you get; 2-Don't be afraid not to run your pack 1 p...

Figuring out Formats

So, now that I have the very beginning of a collection, I'm starting to think about branching out into Constructed Formats on MTGO. Now - a reality check. I'm not interested in blowing hundreds of dollars on playsets of chase rares if I can avoid it. I know there are casual, budget formats, so that'...

Though entertaining, I felt something was going over my head. Was there something in Canadian politics recently that sparked this video? I can't be the only non-native thinking this way. Mara. Nothing in particular, I think (at least, not on a national level.) I mean, the Yes/No debate is more of a...

My First Draft Victory

So, one of the reason I found the motivation to sign up here was that I won my first draft ever yesterday, and I felt like bragging a bit. It was a RTR Swiss on MTGO, so yeah, it's not the most awesome accomplishment, but still, I'm pretty pleased by myself. Most satisfying is that I mostly won on t...

Re: Introduce yourselves! (A friendly topic for new members)

Hi folks!

Since I've been following LRR for the last year or so (and having aggressively binged on ALL THE VIDEOS) I figured I might as well join the community. Especially as the guys got me into MTG again (Darn you! Darn you all to heck!)

So add one more Montreal fan from the list.
