Re: Mono-red burn with tokens

I'd drop the borderland minotaurs for another pyromancer and rageblood shaman, given the chance. The 4/3 is great and all but your deck really wants to focus on being aggressive and fast. Alternately, if you want to throw a big pile of money at the issue, swap them out for Boros Reckoners.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

Don't let anyone tell you what kind of deck to build. I'm a straight-up Timmy, and I wanted to build a standard deck built around ramp and X-costed hydras and spells. Turns out, thanks to Mistcutter Hydra, that works pretty well. It will never top-8 any major event, but bigods there's no "winni...

Re: Name a card

I remember that podcast. It was a recap of a con they went to, Graham ended up winning a game of EDH against a group of fans. I believe it was a red enchantment, and it was controlled by a fan. The card in that TTC was Pandemonium, which is different from Vicious Shadows. Pandemonium is whenever a ...

Was the timing on the ending a post-hoc cut or was that just when Paul hit the button? Either way, perfect sign-off.

Yeah, speaking of I just got beaten by one of those in a MTGO swiss. Three games in a row of turn 1 Akroan Crusader and it just got more aggro from there. WELP.

Re: The Limited thread

Query, has anyone ever seen Scholar of Atheros used for value? I've played against some decks using it but the ability has never fired. I mean, it's a solid blocker on its own, but I'm curious if there's actually value there.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

Played a six-player round of Commander with some relatively new players earlier today. Four people were using the pre-built Commander 2013 decks. The Grixis deck was being piloted by a very new player who really had not played much, and she had put Nekusar as general. Around turn 6, with Nekusar on ...

Re: So I pre-ordered the new Commander decks and...

Mark Rosewater has said they can only print the full set of five, so unless the demand for the other four somehow keeps up with the Grixis deck the Grixis deck is going to remain expensive. It's not even like the deck itself is stronger than the other four, it's just got a couple cards that go into ...

Re: Friday Nights - Politics

That was awesome. "Is this an Archenemy game?" "It is now!" is one of my favorite parts of Commander. Does Jer actually have that Diaochan deck and if so is he willing to share the decklist?

Re: The Bodypaint Problem

I thought it was very snappy, the pacing was great. The stinger was kind of high-concept, as the confusion here sort of indicates. I think I'd like it more without Graham's reaction shot, just Alex's line and out.

So I pre-ordered the new Commander decks and...

It was a darn good thing  Because True-Name Nemesis (and to a lesser degree Baleful Strix) apparently cleaned house at the Legacy championships this weekend, the Grixis deck has doubled in price, despite not being a limited run. It's now pushing $70 on some sites. Does it bother anyone else w...

What sort of mad science do you practice? I'm doing my PhD in astrophysics.

Psychology. Specifically the cognitive science of causality. The more I do, the more I'm not sure causality really exists.

Re: Challenge: How would you run a Disney RPG?

There's a lot of Disney properties. I won't take the cop-out and go Marvel or Star Wars, but, just sayin'... It always depends on what you're looking for, but you could do something pretty fun with Toy Story, in a system that supports stealth very well. You could run it White Wolf-esque and have the...

At first I didn't know what you were talking about, but I see the issue now. Short version: It was created as a speculative mechanic for a future set that does not yet exist and possibly never will. Long version: I suspect you bought a Sliver premium deck or something like it, which included this ca...
