Re: The Magic Venting Thread

Flooded or got mana screwed in, I counted, six consecutive MTGO games and total eight out of ten yesterday. :randomness:

Re: Khans of Tarkir Speculation

My thought about the color-focus of each wedge is that the final set will be shards, centered around the same thing. I'm hoping the middle small set will be either five-color or four-color (YEEHAW FOUR-COLOR COMMANDERS)

Re: Khans of Tarkir Speculation

Urza's well dead (end of Legacy saga), and I doubt they'll bring him back. The only character they have so much as referencee from the Urza era post-Time Spiral is Karn, the rest either being dead or sealed away in some rift (Come on Jhoira...). Ugin is the interesting wildcard, I suspect we will en...

Re: GPLP next game thread

Recettear. You can probably beat the "story" in like, one, two sessions tops? Good palette cleanser. Not exactly a bad game, but definitely one with a lot of oddities to make fun of. Alternately try Wonderful 101. It's like Revengeance meets Okami with the flair of Viewtiful Joe and a dash...

Re: Watch + Play

There's almost a whole other category of Watch + Play material in "games with good ideas executed so badly that Alex goes on massive tilt." I think that would be interesting, but ultimately less amusing than the outright awfulness of crap like alpha cylon or whatever that shitpile was call...

Re: Khans of Tarkir Speculation

I'm thinking it'll be a draft format that goes L1L1L1, SL1L1 or L1L1S, then L2L2S. In other words, both the starting and finishing large sets will be drafted with the small set, but never together.

Re: anyone up for an awesome goblin planeswalker?

I have a Krenko EDH deck. I call it "Flaming Goblins," the basic idea being that I use Krenko to produce an arbitrarily large number of goblins, and then use massive goblin-based damage effects to kill people without necessarily attacking (e.g., Devouring Dragon, Pandemonium, brightstone r...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I keep a standard deck and a modern deck around just to play in whatever format happens to turn up. Neither is particularly good, but they're useful to have around.

Went Green. Opened Chord. Went 3-1 on Convoke Craziness, with Chord, Convoke Angel, Convoke buffs, Convoke 2/2 that gives counters, Convoke tramplewurm...long story short convoke is REALLY GOOD and ye olde Selesnya lives again.

Ideally with a rotating crew of copilots. Bonus points if you can get them in the order of the people who brought you coffee in the CH sketch.

Re: So that just happened (funny MTG stories)

Vent Sentinel can absolutely be a deck in Conspiracy, I won with it. The main thing is that it's a deck that wins by being the least threatening deck on the board...until it isn't. Also by high-picking every Power of Fire that went past.

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

I don't think enchanting equipment with Ensoul Artifact will allow the equipment to give itself whatever abilities it would normally grant, since it's not in any way equipping a creature. Not only that, making an aura or equipment a creature makes it unable to attach itself to anything. There's a r...

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

I suspect M15 will be a little slower than it looks. It's got a lot of stuff that comes down early but then has activated abilities that cost some mana and make them tap for that rather than attacking. My bet is that it will be faster than M14 but slower than, say, M12 or M13. I expect to be able to...

Absolutely has to be Shadow Hearts: Covenant. All-around fantastic game, and while you miss a few nods if you don't know the first game really well, the story holds together very well as a stand-alone entity.

"All your slivers are now Banisher Priest": http://mythicspoiler.com/m15/cards/cons ... liver.html Limited: Not sure if good, might be a trap as it is a six-drop 3/3, but if you're in slivers and can produce more slivers after you cast it this thing wins games. Commander: Run for your god-...

The schedule is actually inaccurate - this week is going to be a Serge and Alex Let's Nope, I think Condemned is the game? Graham needs a little time to build up his library of awful games, would be my guess.

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

Jace is actually much stronger than he looks. He's a 5-loyalty planeswalker for 4, which is already pretty durable. His plus, while not good in every deck, empowers a very strong reanimator-style deck. His ultimate is better Timetwister. Seriously. It is literally a strictly better version of a Powe...

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

New Avacyn is a little more color-heavy Serra Angel with one extra power. The abilities are gravy, on vanilla test alone she's solid. You commit to heavy white if you take her, but that seems like something this format could support.

Where are you seeing Crucible? Are they actually reprinting that? It's a mainstay of my Prossh "jund 'em out" dragon EDH deck, it gets out of hand very quickly.

Garruk is gonna be in since he's the poster child. I'm curious at what he's gonna be up to though. I like Notch's card, I'm thinking it goes into red rush decks as a way late game draw engine? Garruk might not be an actual card, they seem to have built a "face the hydra" style thing starr...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

If you're looking at defense-style games, if not actual tower defense, I strongly recommend AI wars: Fleet Command. It's a pseudo-RTS (real-time with pause) that's somewhere between tower defense and classical RTS combat, pitting you against a merciless, inevitable foe. It's a lot of fun single-play...
