Re: Extra Credits (now at PATV!)

And it's good for LRR to be on multiple publishers' sites. That way they can reach more viewers, and they get to work in a greater variety of styles than if they were just on one "network."

Re: The Tale of Matt Wiggins

I just saw, for the first time, the Lonely Island video on which this episode is based. Now I'm sad because what I thought was the LRR video's unique twist -- the way Ian kept going off-topic in the verses -- was the same twist used in the Lonely Island video. :-(

Re: The Tale of Matt Wiggins

Slack, in our defense, it's the post-DB video and that's just how they tend to roll. After DB2 we did the Buggles parody... turns out parodies are easier because they require less brain meat. No problem. Seeing as how my rant about the inside jokes was itself full of inside jokes, there's a slight ...

Random Internet celebrity sighting

I passed by someone I think was James Portnow from Extra Credits while walking across the street in Seattle this morning. I wanted to stop and say, "hey, you're that guy from that show on the Internet. You rock." But I couldn't think of a way to start that conversation without it being rea...

Re: The Tale of Matt Wiggins

Man, it's weird that LRR is still functional then, given they've jumped the shark with every single season-finale episode, and I think a few of the previous post-Desert-Bus videos, too. It's amazing there are still any sharks left to jump. That's the worst part. After they jump the shark and crash ...

You guys are crazy if you're already planning DB6. At least take a week to just sit back and soak in everything you guys have accomplished!!! Can't wait to get up there and help you guys out next year! Didn't you know that as soon as the cameras were off for DB5, they all went to Boston Pizza to ha...

Re: The Tale of Matt Wiggins

I have mixed feelings about this one. The basic comedic game was sound: LRR setting up expectations on the verses and Ian going in a totally different direction on the chorus. And the references were funny. On the other hand, making an episode filled with inside jokes and fanservice usually means yo...

Re: The thread of win

After a week of Desert Bus and Mass Effect Marathon, my faith in gamers is restored. I'd been burned out on video games after playing on one too many L4D2 servers full of random racists and griefers, but the gaming community showed its best side this week.

And tomorrow at 7am Pacific Time, a plush Tali.

Thanks, Paul, for singing "Hallelujah." Tally and Dale's performance of that song last year was what got me into the music of Leonard Cohen, and your rendition of it this year was equally uplifting.

Re: Worst game ever? You tell me.

The worst game of all time is Dessert Bus When a magician makes a video game as a joke, nobody expects it to be good, but few could have imagined just how truly horrible Dessert Bus would be. The game starts with a first-person view from the driver's seat of a bus. Yes, this is a driving game, but ...

Re: LRRCraft presents: LRR Dedicated TF2 Server

Valve released some sort of update to TF2 today, and now it crashes whenever I enter a game. I had to play L4D2 instead. I'd forgotten how angry some L4D2 players are. Here's a sample of the text chat from the game I joined, sanitized for sensitive readers: Guy 1: [slur], don't [intercourse] with me...

Mass Effect Marathon

I just got email from the folks behind the g33kwatch podcast announcing that their 2nd annual Mass Effect marathon for Child's Play will start on 12:01 am (Eastern Time, I think) on November 25th. I watched their 1st event last year, and it was fun. Much like Desert Bus for Hope, it's a bunch of fri...

The yearly TF2 Halloween Update should be out next week. Last year's update was the Mann Manor map that's been one of the player favorites on the LRRcraft TF2 server, so I can't wait to see what frightful innovations this Halloween brings.

Re: LRRCraft presents: LRR Dedicated TF2 Server

Is there a day/time when people are usually on the lrrcraft TF2 server lately? Every time I've started up TF2 in the past week, the server has been empty. Empty servers make me sad because they lack Heavies at which to aim my flares.

That was a pretty good product placement: you took the cards and went in your own creative direction with them. You should turn this into an ongoing sponsorship opportunity: let companies send you their product to be used in a video, but they won't know how you're going to use it until the video goe...
