Re: Vorthos Volleyball

Question: Militant inquisitor's power comes from the threat of punishment, and the more equipment you control, the more he has to threaten his potential victims with. Flavor Text: "The moon grants me power, yes, but you'll find I'm quite capable without it." Question: Why does grotesque mu...

Vorthos Volleyball

This is a game that I found on Tumblr, and I figured it could be applied to the forums too. Here's a link to the rules for the game , so with that said, I think we should theme this around Shadows Over Innistrad, at least to start off with. Now, to begin: Question: Why does the Pyre Hound get counte...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/you-gotta-clean-up-black-mold-before-it-spreads/ I've made a couple of interesting decks lately, like a few mono-non-creature spell ones, but with this one, I discovered a new infinite combo: Ghave + Utopia Mycon + Cathar's crusade. I gotta say that some of these are ...

@chetoos: Seconding Reflector Mage, he makes an awesome top-end for weenie decks to get rid of pesky blockers and delay opponents' threats, and combos brilliantly with Mockery. Your only other Mockery target other than Lieutenant is Thraben Inspector (who isn't really the aggressive 1-drop this dec...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

That's what I thought, but I didn't want to press the issue. He thought that Kemba had to be equipped for the ability to trigger, but I was like "no, it triggers, and normally I'd get no cats, but I'm doing this in response." Edit: I just had another question, related to a Mazirek deck tha...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

If I have Kemba out, and then at the beginning of my upkeep, in response to the trigger, either flash out grifter's blade or do something which puts the first equipment on her at instant speed, how many cats do I get? My friend says there's an intervening if clause, but I'm 90% sure he's wrong becau...

I changed up my UW clue deck when it became clear that it worked much better as a human beatdown deck. What do you think? Is there anything immensely pressing in G that I need to switch over to bant, or is it good as is?

Bygone bishop: The TSA (because he investigates small people, but if you're rich, IE CMC 4+, you get by without being investigated)

I guess my win con in this deck is really the thing in the ice, but I really don't want to give up white, and I feel that I'd have to if I put in green, and I don't feel that putting in green makes the deck that great. I'll try it against a UG investigate deck, I guess, but I like the white. And I n...

That's unfortunate, but that card is still too good to pass up as removal, especially when I'll hopefully have an abundance of clue tokens.

Re: Modern Deck Brewing Advice

Yes, evoke does trigger the bolt from Omnath, which is why I suggested the briarhorn for pumping. The creature enters the battlefield and is immediately told to sacrifice itself, which does trigger the ability from Omnath. The other reason I recommended fertilid is for the fact that it gives landfal...

I added that, so it's immune to both sleep and fear. It's like a Vigoroth, super active and up in your face.

Re: Modern Deck Brewing Advice

Brighthearth Banneret. You forgot that. Also, Briarhorn is a good evoke creature in green, and a great combat trick, since it lets your elementals trade with something up to 9 toughness above their power. Edit: Maybe a 1 of, the cauldron that lets you give any number of creatures persist? That way y...

Re: Check out this monster I made for Pathfinder!

It's an interesting concept, and I could definitely see it making for a fun encounter. As for feedback, I would say (bearing in mind that I tend to play 3.5 rather than Pathfinder, though I have adapted enough PF campaigns to 3.5 to know the system) that the biggest balance issue I see is the ray. ...

I'm thinking of making a UW clue deck once SOI comes out, and the 5 creatures I want in the deck are Bygone Bishop, thraben investigator, thing in the ice, thalia's lieutenant, and daring sleuth/bearer of overwhelming truths. Re: Ravnica Rebellion

I think that there's already enough Soldier tribal that you shouldn't base your guild on it. I like the idea of soldier tribal as a subtheme, but you should have a mechanic for it. Maybe something that copies an attacking or blocking token, either when this creature attacks, or on a combat trick, or...

Re: Modern Deck Brewing Advice

Actually, because 4 omnaths are seeing 3 omnath's and/or elementals die, then you get 12 bolts, which is enough to kill someone who's gotten up to even 36 life.

Re: Modern Deck Brewing Advice

Something else that helps Omnath be his Omnathy self is evoke. All the cards with evoke are elementals, and they do enter the battlefield, so they do die to be able to bolt something.
