Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

i played a dgm/gtc/rtr draft for the 1st time on mtgo last night. was 1-2. first round of match 1 was really close and last 20 minutes. would have won it but messed up extort triggers because of lack of knowledge re: the client. its def a weird format. oh and more m14 spoilers , http://static02.medi...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

did a phantom draft on mtgo just to get a feel for drafting in the client. the draft was fine but DAMN that clock catches up with you quick. i lost my first match because clock ran out on me in game 3. i do think that in the long run this will make me a better player because it forces you to plan ou...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

ok that makes sense. while on the topic of reverberate is my opponent plays mizzium mortars for overload cost and i reverberate do i also get to burn all his dudes for 4. i'm 99% sure this is ok cos he pays overload when casting so they spell i am copying does say 'each' when on the stack. just like...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

can reverberate copy both sides of a fuse spell. as i understand it when you cast a split card for the fuse cost it is seen by the stack as one spell with the joined CMC so if a cast reverberate while say far+away is on the stack i will be able to target two dudes to bounce and then he has to sac 2 ...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

My wife came home from Grocery shopping and handed me a M13 pack. Auger, Boar, Hellkite, foil Thragtusk. I suspect there is someone at Wizards with the job of makeing "super packs" to seed like golden tickets so that people will get them and say "Holy crap I need to buy 10 more!"...

Re: Constructed Help

i was in the same boat recently and there is not a huge amount out there for the likes of you and me who have been playing a while. a lot of the standard/constructed guides out there deal with the basics of deckbuilding but if you have been playing since innistrad you will know most of it. i do find...

so wizards have started M14 spoilers already. they spoiled all these sliver creatures. does not mean much to me as i was not playing the last time slivers were a thing. i think the 2 red ones are insanely good for a common https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/182578_101527878329253...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

ok so in the same vein if i played Exava instead of the hydra and unleashed her she comes in as 5/5 because menace doubled the unleash counter and then krasis triggers and puts on another counter which is doubled by corpse so exava comes in as a 7/7 ???

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

just back from the draft and it went really well. a lot of people struggled to draft something good but i did well i think. didnt draft any bombs but just built around some really solid workers like tithe drinker, maw of the obzedat and some other extort stuff and fliers. won 1st round 2-0 quite eas...

Re: Limited Resources Set Review Ratings - Dragon's Maze

Listening to it right now. I personally don't much care about the ratings actually. The reasonings behind them are pretty important though. Thanks for the tip on this one, would've missed it if not for this thread. yeah i agree. its the thought process behind what makes a good card thats important....

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I have been doing some drafting on the online sites and MAN Return to Ravnica block is complicated. From what I have been doing its in DGM pick your three colors, in the other two, try not to splash a 4th. yeah its really difficult to draft something good when you have all 3 sets together. it was s...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

The man meant what he said. It does kinda looks like a keyblade i.e. the keyblade from Kingdom Hearts. 1. I've never played that, so I wouldn't know much about keyblades. 2. This is Magic, not Kingdom Hearts. Do you think they'd license that from Disney just to put it in the background? I doubt it....

Re: Limited Resources Set Review Ratings - Dragon's Maze

Since I haven't watched this (or any of Marshall's stuff, in fact, except for the one time he came on the Academy draft), I'm assuming these are rankings just for limited, i.e. Sealed and Draft? Because some of the cards that are "F" should be rated higher in Constructed, like Possibility...
