Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

ashiok is really good and its extremely big that her first ability is +2 instead of +1 . at 5 loyalty she is out range of warleaders helix and for a cheap T3 planeswalker thats huge.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

yes thundermaw was better when looking at fliers on the other side of the table but a lot of the time that was not the case. i am not saying this guy is better than thundermaw taken as a whole but he is absolutely constructed playable and is a GOOD replacement for thundermaw. and yes the control dec...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

yeah i get that and his ramp will be very relevant in midrange decks. its going to be a meta call but my instinct says Domri will see more play. but moving on, seems wizards have essentially reprinted thundermaw with upside(pro white) and IMO a more relevant ability. Stormbreath Dragon replaces thun...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

he is a solid planeswalker but i feel that decks that want him are much better with domri. i like this guys ultimate but PW rarely last long enough to use it. so based on their first and second ability i think domri is better.
i dont think running both of em is an option. we shall see.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I disagree. I think that the 4 drop 5/5 has a pretty good monstrosity effect. It can be removal if you need it to be, scaled with how much mana you have, and makes him larger in the long run. Instant speed means you can kill something bigger if you can get it damaged first. All this on a 5/5 body. ...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

i like that heliod makes an enchantment creature token. could wizards be any more telegraphing the mono white control/sphere of safety deck  hundred handed one is just damn funny. might pop up in control decks. too slow for anything else. titan of eternal fire could be a really good match with ...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

the ultimate on elspeth is meh and her -3 really pushes her towards control decks but like kapol said those decks have much better uses for 6 mana. time will tell. rescue from the underworld might be good if the set has some good enter/leave the battlefield effects. hammer of purphoros is not good I...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I think there are uses for the card. I think it'll go good with Kalonia Hydra for one. I just disagree with the many people I've seen who act like this is going to be a huge card. I don't think it will be. yeah i agree with you there. i was also thinking of the hydra and if Exava sees play after ro...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

FS and DS are the two clear best to combo with deathtouch in this case. You can't give it to a pinger, attack, and ping without giving said pinger Vigilance and likely losing it in the process. in terms of pingers there is one it combos with. Bomber Corps. there are other uses for the card i can th...

Lemegton that was 5 years ago. I think it has been done to death. Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

So, how do hybrid mana costs work with Devotion/Chroma? Does a Simic mana symbol count as both a blue mana symbol and a green mana symbol, or is it neither? Devotion is essentially Chroma re-tweeked and with chroma hybrid cards counted for each color. so a Boros Reckoner, on top of being a bomb alr...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

i dont think the next standard is going to be THAT mono focused. dont forget how well devotion synergizes with the hydrid mana cards from RTR block. if all the colors have playable cards with devotion then i think 2 color decks are going to be the most common. obviously there will be some really str...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

i think the mtgsalvation spoiler has it wrong as there is another version of the card doing the rounds that says {2}{U} Legendary Enchantment Creature - God Indestructible At the beginning of your upkeep, scry 1. {1}{U}: Target creature you control can't be blocked this turn. Devotion 5 - If there ...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

As for the devotion thing, *shrug*. I had to reason to think otherwise other than that kind of 'color cult' idea seemed very black in nature to me. The blue god looks really nuts though. Being able to pay 2 to give any creature unblockable? Getting to scry every turn during your upkeep? Getting a 5...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

is it too high though? if you draw it early or mid game then you forget about the ability and its a 4/4 FS flier for 5. but as a late game topdeck 7 mana to make an existing creature Ridiculous which will leave behind a 4/4 FS flier if the creature dies is NOT unreasonable IMO. the black demon they...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

So enchanted creatures are officially a thing now. The revealed one doesn't seem bad, but the special cost is way too high. Also, I've built an enchantment-based deck is it too high though? if you draw it early or mid game then you forget about the ability and its a 4/4 FS flier for 5. but as a lat...

Re: Creating an evolve deck: Help Wanted

I'm iffy on savage Summoning personally. I think it's more of a sideboard card against control, depending on how bad your local meta is for control. On the other hand though, it allows you to do a lot beyond that in this deck. The creature comes in bigger, which means it's more likely to trigger ev...
