Re: Switching out of D&D 4e - Alternative systems?

I am an avid player of the Arcanis: RPG system by Paradigm Concepts, though while the game adds a lot more depth than 4ed, it has a fairly steep learning curve. There is also a Game of Thrones RPG system, though I haven't played it yet to see just how different it is. As stated, the easiest switch ...

Re: Corrector's Commentary - Alien

Is it possible to maybe suggest pausing and say "We're at 53 minutes. . . now of 118 minutes"? It breaks the fun of it all watching it in one big long stretch, but it could be one way to help it. Do it every 10 minutes or so?

Re: Corrector's Commentary - Alien

Also had a LOT of trouble with you guys seeming to rush past points in the plot so I was pausing you guys for about 10 seconds every minute just to keep you guys in more-or-less sync.

Re: TTC - BNG Flavour & Origins

Perhaps I'm missing something, but isn't a Caryatid merely a statue of a woman being used as a pillar, and not a type of Nymph?

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

I'm sorry that this isn't directly about the stream, but it is related: I am REALLY getting irritated with Civ recently. I just tilted out on a game with the Ethiopians, and in 150 turns I killed 79 Barbarian units, while in the middle of a jungle, with no hills for production, and while (as my scou...

I just wanted to say 1) good video!, 2) I doubt it was, but I really hope that the banner ad on the video when I watched it was 100% intentional. . .

I play (less recently) Arcanis on Roll20, and I recommend it. Haven't played D&D for years, though.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

A bit late I know, but for Kim Stanley Robinson books I HIGHLY recommend the Years of Rice and Salt. One of my favorite books of all time. I also loved the Mars books, and while 2313 is interesting it is not his best work IMHO.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

Just a question, but when others play this game what kind of Class ratios do you have? I have played two games so far, and in the first game I had a total of 28 soldiers, and 15 of them were Support with only one sniper. In the new game, I have a total of 23 soldiers (only lost a heavy and a support...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

Just beat the game and I see Cams point re the final Temple Ship Assault. Up to the final fight (took 5 tries, 3 lost to buggy computer, one to one round TPK), it was mostly just marking time until the final fight. Nothing even really hit me except the Sectopods.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

From a purely educational standpoint, and though I know it's not his style for the stream, I almost wish Cam would drop down to Classic so we can see some of the later-game content. I'm starting to beat up on Muton Elites ever more frequently now, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to salvage...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

I built the arc-thrower fairly quickly and got a Thin Man and a Sectoid, but I really need to get about capturing the Big Brain guys so I can get Psions. I keep forgetting to equip the damn thing!

As a side note, is capturing the drones worth it?

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

Bought Enemy Unknown and have power-leveled up past the Base Mission when I'm starting to get Bersekers and the upgraded floaters, though now I'm having a little mortality problem. I have only lost 4, but one was a Colonel and one was a Captain. Anyone know how much of the game is left after this?

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron

It was the 'keep beating up stationed units' part that did me in: almost impossible to overcome the defensive bonuses half the time, so to take over a city required about twenty times as many troops as they had. From my Civ IV experiences, anyway. On an unrelated note, how does one get added to the...

Okay, I watched this as far as when they fell off the water into the water, and then saw the platform of water above the water in their search for purgatory, and all i could think of was Guy Maddans "My Winnipeg" and the "Forks beneath the Forks". . .

As much as I like to see the endgame, I'm enjoying Cam's tactics. Hell, it nothing else it shows me how badly things can got tits-up, and how quickly ;)
