Re: Nintendo Switch
Personally, I think it looks like a sweet idea. It's an interesting mix of portable and home console. I really dislike how little solid information we're getting. They announced that the Switch direct won't be until January. If that's the soonest we're getting information like I think it is... that'...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
That is incorrect. Gitrog specifically says 'Whenever one or more land cards are put into your graveyard.' Both lands are put into the graveyard together. So since the two are going to the graveyard at the same time, it only triggers once. For evidence of this, here's the ruling from gatherer: If mu...

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
New Nintendo console announced. Looks to me like it's more replacing the 3DS than the Wii U, but we'll have to wait and see.

Re: New (old?) Standard Rotation
What it was before: Every year when the fall set releases, four sets rotate out (the oldest block plus its core set), one set rotates in. Now: Every Fall/Spring, one block (two sets) rotates out, the first set of the next block rotates in. So it goes from a five set swing, to a three set swing. It ...

Hopefully you enjoy it. I know I'm super excited for SuMo and have the steelbook on preorder. Also looking forward to the demo coming out Tuesday.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Finished Bravely Second. I enjoyed it. Overall it wasn't quite as good as the first to me. Reused assets made it lose a lot of exploration value. But there were aspects I thought worked better and quite enjoyed. It also shares some of the problems of the first game. Though thankfully not the biggest...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I would say that energy is the only 'concern' mechanic. It's one that had the potential of being very parasitic, as it's using a resource that's only generated by cards in the set. But pretty much every card in Kaladesh avoids being an issue by both making energy if they care about it and just being...

Use the biggest vehicles to crew the smallest vehicles. The best way to win flavor.
By the way, if you like giant kitty and/or kamigawa, read the latest story. It actually made me tear up.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
To be fair I feel like Innistrad has an easier time with flavor due to the theme of the plane. "Gothic Horror" seems easier to get across in card form than "Totally-not-Steampunk Magicpunk." Kaladesh's theme also seems a bit less established in general than Innistrad's. Which isn...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
So after drafting Kaladesh for the first time, I think the format is pretty sweet. It's less bomb driven than I was worried about. Though I think the powerful rares did warp things somewhat. I don't think it's KTK good. But KTK is the best limited format I've played. One thing I found out is that ve...

Re: LRR is starting to lose me
Honestly the only streams I watch with regularity are CtS, AFK, W+P, and LRL. Even W+P has been losing me more and more as of late. Some of them are due to personal taste in streamers. But most of the streams are more because they're generally playing things I don't care for. And that does play a pa...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
You are correct there. From the Kaladesh Release Notes : Some triggered abilities state that you “may pay” a certain amount of E. You can’t pay that amount multiple times to multiply the effect. You simply choose whether or not to pay that amount of E as the ability resolves, and no player may take ...

Re: KLD Pre-release - how'd you do?
Three events, records were 2-0-ID, 2-1, 2-0-ID. Prizes were based on record, so I ended up IDing whenever possible. It makes the last match much more fun for me to play, as I find it significantly less stressful. And there's no real guilt thanks to standings not affecting anything. Though both IDs e...

Re: Rhythm Café
I remember the question being put out there of a 'Rhythm Heaven Megamix' CtS style thing using the challenge train. I've finally had the chance to play through the game, and I will say there's likely enough content in the challenge train for a full 2 hour stream, if not 3. But... the later levels ar...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
As a limited player, the fact it's going to reduce the cost of the other cards in the set is actually an issue for me. Especially since this sounds like it'll be the norm from now on. Pulling valuable cards is one of the ways I help offset the cost of drafting. So when prices on cards that aren't in...

Re: Kaladesh Spoiler Season Hype
Please don't let Phyrexians show up on Kaladesh. Not even in the 'Return To Kaladesh' if we ever get to that point. I think Kaladesh is a really cool plane, and I'd be very disappointed if Phyrexians mess it up. With the reveal today, as well as some of the other ways they've set it up to potentiall...

It has an adorable robot fox that'll actually be good (at least in limited). That's enough to make me like the set.

Replayed Human Revolution (the Director's Cut, for the first time) to prep for Mankind Divided coming out next week. I forgot just how much I liked the game, though the DLC had one spot that really bothered me. As I always do, I did a pacifist run. And this time I actually got the pacifist achieveme...

Re: 18 Games and Counting
Watching Pokémon was a ton of fun. I'd actually love to see a longer series akin to the Agatha Fisty playthrough. It's neat seeing people who don't know the pokermanz play through it. Alternatively, wait until Sun/Moon come out and have Hodor and James play through some of it for Newday Tuesday or s...
