Re: Favorite Sanctioned Format, and Why.
I'm quite fond of limited formats, but Booster Draft is definitely my favorite. Sealed is fantastic (especially pre-releases!), but I think I prefer the "you only have yourself to blame" element of Draft.

Sorin v. Tibalt
Has anyone else picked up the newest Duel Decks? Mine just arrived from Card Kingdom yesterday, and while I haven't gotten to play it against anyone else yet, I did run through two skirmishes against myself and the decks play surprisingly well and the two decks are currently tied at 1-1. Short game ...

I use the one on the last page of the order process, the text box above the "Submit Order" button that reads "If you have specific comments or instructions regarding your order, please enter them below."

That's weird, I don't think it's automated. I just received Sorin v. Tibalt and despite preordering it before the button thing, mine included the button. I always start my comments with "LoadingReadyRun sent me," but I also usually thank them for sponsoring Limited Resources as well.

Re: Pack Wars
When we played pack wars at my local game store, after each round, we each added a pack before the next round of matchups and the new minimum became 40 cards per deck. Essentially it's a super-limited version of sealed after that, where each round you get a new pack's worth of cards to swap things w...

Re: The Thursday Card Kingdom draft sponcored by CardKingdom
I'm not sure how widespread the use of UTC is in other fields, but weather geeks use it for pretty much everything. Much easier to coordinate forecasts when everything is timestamped in zulu. The rare-draft was a bit disappointing, I must say. Enjoyable games, still, but I'll be the first to admit t...

Re: MTG Deck Naming Thread
Please tell me you've "Unexpected Results"ed into Urban Evolution. And that makes me think Hobbits, so how about the Long Expected Party deck? You wouldn't have to go three-color for Biomass. It's 2 green or blue, so you'd just need two islands up. But yea, it wouldn't work nearly as good ...

Heads up that they'll be going live today between 4:00 and 4:30 Pacific Daylight Time.
(7-7:30 EDT or 2300-2330z, everyone else can do their own time zone math from there)
High five for anyone who already understands zulu time.

Re: MTG Deck Naming Thread
I had a particularly devastating version of this deck in the previous iteration of Standard (yay, Sorin Markov, Sorin's Vengeance, and Reassembling Skeletons!), but after feedback from my main group of friends (Read: getting ganged up on repeatedly in multiplayer) I've refrained from using Killing W...

Anyone else super excited for Sorin v. Tibalt? This is the first MtG product I've ever pre-ordered, since I love Sorin's character. The decklists and a runthrough of a few skirmishes using the decks were posted to Daily MTG earlier this week.

Just finished my umpteenth re-read of Carl Sagan's Contact. I'm not sure where I'm going next though, maybe back to the huge stack of Asimov literature I still haven't read.

I hate when an event ends. My airports in Miami and Bogota are still loaded with Spring Breakers bound for Cancun, and I'm just obsessive enough to finish their trips anyway even though I need my class 1's running the London-to-Manchester.

Also, transgender individuals who have transitioned often have health considerations as well. In fact, getting appropriate care for transgender individuals is notoriously difficult, especially outside of major urban centers. Lots of doctors don't know anything about being trans. So if GoZ wants to ...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Had a good night here! I finally got to draft Gatecrash with some friends, and I wound up with a pretty decent Gruul deck. I had 3 pit fights and 3 Zur Taas Swine, plus a pair of Crocanuras and the 2/1 artifact creature that can't be damaged by blockers. Throw in a Madcap Skills to just completely r...

Re: Books you're reading now
I found mine in a box when I moved out of my parents' place a few months ago. My collection kind of did the same thing your library did towards the end, where it's just random books after the mid thirties. Apparently they're being reprinted now (they're back up to 7 or 8 already) and Sony recently b...

Re: Books you're reading now
I'm working my way back through the Animorphs series. It's a very different beast reading these in my 20's compared to reading them in late Elementary and Middle School. Some of the themes in this are incredibly dark, I mean all of the main characters have full blown PTSD by the third book. It's als...

I'm excited! This is the best television news I've seen in ages, especially after Improvaganza didn't even get a second season. And it may provide more fodder for in-jokes like this among my friends. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/419139_425325590848524_1031343120_n.jpg

I don't think so. As far as I'm aware, aside from taking your turns together, you only share life totals. Something that mentions "creatures you control" still only means the ones that you, specifically, control, not your team.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
When two creatures "Fight," they each (simultaneously) deal damage to each other equal to their power. Double Strike and First Strike do nothing, since it's not during combat, but Lifelink and Deathtouch work just like normal. (For future reference, Trample also does nothing here.)

Just need confirmation on one thing: The delayed trigger from Seance that exiles the token does not get copied if you populate that token, correct? The populated copies stick around?
