Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!

Somewhat of a Steam Sale, the Because We May sale is currently going from now until the end of the month. It is an independently organized sale setup by a (large) handful of indie developers in support of the various online storefronts that let them call the shots and decide their own pricing, and c...

Re: The Secret World

I had some fun with the first beta weekend, but the patcher seems to do weird things to my router (as many things do) which caused it to start refusing connections to any web server that wasn't secured (https://). Being that circumstances restrain me from being able to reboot the router manually, I ...

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!

Just finished playing through Dear Esther and.. I don't even know how to describe it. There isn't really a word for it. There are no puzzles. There are no enemies. There are no moral choices or strategies or anything. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it simply becomes hard to categorize. I do...

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!

Isn't EA Indie Bundle a contradiction in terms and therefore non-existent? It is a common misconception in gaming circles that somehow having a publisher is mutually exclusive with "being indie." While this is probably true in the Music and Film industry, the fact is that the content plat...

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!

While not on Steam itself, Amazon has a sale on Psychonauts here in the US for $2. If you have never played it, BUY IT RIGHT NOW. Psychonauts remains on sale, though now at $4. It is also worth noting that this is the Steam version. Which is good, as that is the only version with achievements, 360 ...

I've been playing a fair bit of DOTA2, but mostly just bot matches. People are scary and people who play dota are scarier.

Despite how often the bots seem to humiliate me, they have yet to do it on purpose.

If anyone at PAX East manages to get a promotional Super Monday Night Combat code from Uber Entertainment.. I will do things for it*.

*I probably will not actually do things for it, though I want the skins pretty badly. I guess I'm just hoping someone is nice.

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!

This is not actually a sale, or on steam, but worth being aware of regardless;

GOG.com is giving out free copies of the original Fallout today and tomorrow. It comes with free goodies and has better compatibility with modern windows than the versions on Steam.

Also, it is FALLOUT.

Re: Michael Bay returns to destroy our childhoods

Next up Micheal Bay will make a My Little Pony movie. However, he found that Little Ponies did not focus test well with the 13-18 male demographic. As such the ponies are being replaced by massive sentient killing machines that are controlled by the ancient computerized ghost of a small child who re...

Buggy and frustrating. i want to play the game that should have been. There a a tonne of great elements but overall I was disappointed cause nothing worked even after all the bug fix patches. Really? while shields fully regenerate, health is separated into five segments and you only regenerate up to the top of your current segment. Wasn't that how Far Cry 2 worked? (If so, ha! I keep telling people that game mattered. ;) ) Actually, Chronicles of Riddick did it first. Movie games CAN be innovat...

Re: Ye Olde Official Skyrim Discussion Thread (Spoilers?)

And as for their HD mod? It smoothens the rough edges but doesn't do as good a job as Skyrim HD. That uses less resources and actually ENHANCES the graphics. Still a strain though. For starters, the reason SkyrimHD uses less resources is because they have replaced less textures. The official pack r...

Re: Ye Olde Official Skyrim Discussion Thread (Spoilers?)

For anyone who has been waiting for it, the "Ultimate Edition" of FO:NV is now available on Steam for $40 However, if you were looking to save money, you should probably wait a bit longer. Had you bought the game and DLC over the recent holiday sale it would have been under $20. Or if you ...

And to your price point of retail games, PC really only good if you don't mind waiting a while to buy games. Except for the fact that many new releases are still cheaper on the PC. Just to throw out two examples, Saints Row 3 and The Darkness 2 are both $60 on consoles, and $50 on PC. Furthermore, ...

I cannot afford to buy and upgrade a pc every six months to play the newest games That is a misconception. You forget technology has plateaued in this recent generation. For Modern Warfare I find the best way to handle that trilogy is to treat it like the Matrix. Then they made a sequel that was nearly impossible to follow...
