Re: Uphill both ways, in Snow-Covered Mountains
My play preferences change based on what I'm doing. I'm pretty Timmy in Commander, and spiky-as-hell when drafting. I play Modern (pod) and Standard (currently enchantress), as well, but just because I like to play the game. If there were a legacy or highlander scene here, I'd try and get into those...

32 color combinations (27 without the 4-color combos) - get hopping! Use a nephilim as the head of a 4-color, and have a 5-color legend on standby in case your playgroup doesn't want to allow the nephilim.

Re: The KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANs of Tarkir Spoiler Thread
Someone on a reddit thread I made said that all packs have to have at least one card of each color. Is that actually true? I've never heard of that being the card. But I don't really know either. Your source might not be a lying liar, but he's definitely mistaken. Packs can be absent colors; Wizard...

Re: Kiki-Pod Edit
Yeah, 4 pods, 4 chords and sometimes I don't draw one of either, so I've gotta play a pretty "meh" creature-based midrange deck featuring abrupt decay.

Re: Kiki-Pod Edit
The reason you use Kitchen Finks and Murderous Redcap is that they have ETB triggers, and Kiki-pod doesn't need them, as Kiki-pod doesn't run Melira combo. You'd be better served running a Voice of Resurgence (especially because you can get tokens to pod into an important 1-drop) or Scavenging Ooze ...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I'd cut the guildgates for City of Brass, Mana Confluence, Reflecting Pool, Exotic Orchard, and Rupture Spire (so you've got more 5-color sources). It also looks like your mana base is a bit heavy on U and G, and a bit light on B and W. Five-color is tough to figure out sometimes. I still haven't fi...

the last 20 slots will be allocated to Basics; there're four art for each basic in each set that has them.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
yeah, we had someone kill the entire table at the LGS with Hidetsugu and Dictate out. I was looking for some way to pay one life and not die (because an odd life total actually sets you to one with that combo). Too bad I didn't have a City of Brass Painland out.

Re: LRR Store goes back live
I posted a link to my local magic group on Facebook. I'm pretty sure at least one person will preorder from the group. There are a couple players who really don't do anything but Jund and BG Rock.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I'm looking at updating my Ghave deck to make it more consistent. Any suggestions? I understand that planeswalkers can't be commanders, but I was mostly building them for a hypothetical version where planeswalkers are commanders. Thank you for the advice on everything, though Some playgroups allow P...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I solve that problem by keeping multiple decks on me at a time. Seriously, I've got 11 of them in my mtg bag (including an Infect one I'm slowly working on).

in a new format, I spend a lot of time going over my plays. I've punted more than one game by just making the snap play and not considering the board, much less what my opponent might have.

My draft deck from last Saturday. The column on the right is my sideboard. I got to ultimate Lilli and Jace once each, and I went 2-1-0.

Re: The Limited thread
This is also a slow enough format that you can run a couple of high-cost spells. It's not monolithic, but it's certainly a bit slower than Theros block, and can support three or four {5}+ costed cards per deck in limited.

Re: Custom cards - Playability assessment
There's no way to enforce a mandatory trigger in a hidden zone. The best way to make someone want to mulligan with one of these cards in hand is to give them a good up-side.

you could morph after declaring blockers, instead of morphing in response to damage.
