in a new format, I spend a lot of time going over my plays. I've punted more than one game by just making the snap play and not considering the board, much less what my opponent might have.

This is also a slow enough format that you can run a couple of high-cost spells. It's not monolithic, but it's certainly a bit slower than Theros block, and can support three or four {5}+ costed cards per deck in limited.
