Re: $299 to burn: XBox 360 or PS3
I own a 360 and have used a PS3 a lot, and I really prefer the 360, warts and all. Above all else, I really, REALLY love the 360 controller. Also, I like Xbox Live Marketplace much, much more than PSN.

Freecycle, or your local government-surplus joint. They can be tricky to find, but State Surplus here just offloaded several hundred older Dells that were standing at 1.8GHz Pentium 4s with 512MB RAM, CD/DVD readers, 10/100 Ethernet, 60GB HDDs. USB 2.0 and no OS for like 20 bucks each.

I'm set to work my first 40-hour week since last October. That's a nice feeling. If it keeps up, I'll have the debts from the honeymoon paid off in no time!

Re: PS3 Slim
So you're saying that because you know every action of every person that will ever fit into any situation, you can therefore 100% predict the outcome of any given situation (including this one), which makes you right, and everyone else wrong? Get off your high fucking horse. Edit: This is not about ...

Re: PS3 Slim
Well maybe this hypothetical person paid for the features of a PS2, whether or not they use the feature is irrelevant. They have the scarce product, and therefore more valuable product. Its basic Supply and Demand. Also, it is possible that they don't use the PS2 feature, but do use the install oth...

Re: PS3 Slim
You seem to lack some very fundamental understanding of the issue. Allow me to explain. In a hypothetical situation in which someone who owns an old, 60-GB PS3 that still plays PS2 games and is not using that functionality , I am offering to buy that person a brand-new machine with the functionality...

My PS2 games played on my PS2 look fine on my fancy-ass plasma TV. Maybe the PS2 games you play are just dong? :P No, seriously, it's the upscaler in my TV. It's well-known for being on the Not-Very-Nice-At-All end of the spectrum ("wobulation" DLP projectors are notorious for it for some...

Yes, but having the fancy-ass HDTV I have makes PS2 games, when passed through the TV's upscaler, look like dong. Having hooked a PS3 and played PS2 games on it, there is a significant - if not world-changing - difference, and one I like.

Thoughts?
I will literally buy someone a PS3 Slim if they will give me their 60GB backwards-compatible version. I'm okay with the new price, still not okay with the no-BC.

Many, many, many people explode, but it looks more like a balloon full of corn syrup popping rather than viscera and blood 'n' guts. A number of aliens get shot or dismembered, too.

Whenever I go anywhere, I try the local noms. Often this winds up with delicious new recipes to take home.
When I was in England, however, I was presented with Bubble and Squeak, which I believe is a joke called "What Will The Yank eat?"

I guess I need to be edgy and buck the trend this time. This wasn't the movie I was expecting at all. Let me explain: The previews I had seen for it tended to centre around a brief clip that showed one of the aliens being interviewed - and he says "We didn't mean to come here. We just want to g...

The PAX schedule is out now it seems. link I would like to know if the Hurricane Cafe will be overwhelmed again. I should be a bit more sane for this year's get together. Lighter fluid (proper lighter fluid, like the kind for a Zippo or anything with naptha) will also remove most stickers without any kind of trouble. It dissolves the adhesive a treat.

You are making me very sad that I can't come. :( Edit: Since James was right, one of the parts I always enjoy about the LRRcasts is discussions of 'games as art,' or gaming as a medium beyond "hurr shooty." Seeing as the LRR crew are intelligent, articulate and tend to be gamers at heart, ...

I love the idea of hats. TF2 is fun and silly first and foremost to me, and hats make it even more so.
