Re: Design a Card

If the lands entered tapped unless you shuffled, I don't care what format you're playing, these are the dual lands that you run since they will always enter the battlefield untapped. The only other way I can think of to have them all give access to a shuffle effect is to make them all fetch lands, w...

Re: Design a Card

@Havtorn: The cumulative upkeep should be worded so that you put the top card of your library into your graveyard. --- I came up with the idea of a "library-matters" set based on the top card of your library and would like some feedback on the set's main mechanic: Reclaim. http://i.imgur.c...

Re: Vorthos Story Corner: Battle for Zendikar

I was recently reading old comics on the Wizards site and found the series of three comics that detailed Liliana's early adventures. The third comic contained proof that the Raven Man is 100% real, and is most likely more than just a shapeshifter: he's a spirit. He inhabited the body of a dead man t...

Re: Design a Card

I'd make the ability say "{3}: Gain control of CARDNAME. Any player may activate this ability during his or her own turn."

That way, if the opponent immediately takes it after you cast it on curve, they're using up basically their entire turn for it.

Re: Design a Card

In all seriousness, though, I think it's really weak, because if you're at all worried about it, you can just gain control of it during combat to make it unable to attack you or block you.

He's not overpowered enough to be an original character (do not steal). Try giving him angel/demon wings and/or a huge sword.

Re: Magic Duels (duels of the planeswalkers origins)

I've been able to find certain pockets of time that work for me, at least. @Atifexe: Are you using the Steam version? Because if you are, I think the options let you bind "Stop Timer" to a key (I use spacebar). BTW, has anybody else experienced the opponent randomly discarding a card at th...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

You now control the creature due to both effects, so I believe that both creatures would have to leave before you lose control of it. It's similar to how if you have a Willbreaker and cast Act of Treason, you'll gain control of the targeted creature as long as you control Willbreaker because it's st...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

The fact that it's a creature is not a qualifier for controlling it, just for gaining control of it.

Re: Design a Card

WP&P: I believe that would still allow for doubling up on the effect. Chetoos: I like it! --- On another note, I think I like having Spellbound effects when they have a clause that allows the spell to be countered by itself. For reference, I've edited all of my current Spellbound cards and have ...

Re: Design a Card

How often are you going to be able to have two of them tapped? You'd have to attack with them, and the likelihood of at least one of them dying is pretty high.

Centaur Omenreader is a 3/3 for 3G with the same tapped clause and it sees no competitive play.

Re: Design a Card

Cost reduction is functionally similar to ramp, so I don't see a problem with green having access to it. Also, a lot of the creatures in this faction were going to have flash. How about this, though? http://i.imgur.com/mXmh0oh.png EDIT: I didn't see Citronman's post. I like the idea, I'll try it out...

Re: Design a Card

The problem is that it's not exactly...encouraged, I guess, to reference the stack on a card, and I'm trying to make this feel like it could be an actual set. Also, I just wanted to mention that I'm changing the wording on some of the cards so that things like Lootfish (the first card I linked) now ...

Re: Design a Card

The point of the faction that has Spellbound is that they're basically enveloped in magic. As such, they allow you to "cast" another spell in addition to them. It's meant to allow for effects that get around counterspells, for one, and also for cards like this: http://i.imgur.com/zHQrUIA.p...

Re: Vorthos Story Corner: Battle for Zendikar

I'm saying that it's literally impossible for Urza to appear in Standard. Mark Rosewater has said on his blog that Urza's not coming back and he doesn't lie. He sometimes plays coy (he constantly answers "maybe :)" to a lot of questions about the future, but he outright says that Urza's de...

Re: Vorthos Story Corner: Battle for Zendikar

The Raven Man can't actually be Urza (though that doesn't really mean that he can't be a manifestation based on him, I guess), since Urza is super dead and his spark is in Karn, meaning that even if he wasn't beheaded and still had the Mightstone and Weakstone (which contained his life force, but we...

Re: Design a Card

So I created a Temur-colored faction for a block I'm working on and was about to ask people for feedback on a mechanic I created for it called Spellbound based on the "when you cast this" effects on the original Eldrazi titans. Then they revealed Oblivion Sower . So I guess this is a prett...

Of course, original Avacyn was revealed to be in the FtV, as was Iona. So now we have four confirmed angels, five if you count the key art since it does look similar to Twilight Shepherd.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

Let's say I have a Wild Defiance and a Spellskite, and I cast Lightning Bolt targeting something other than Spellskite. Will the enchantment trigger if I use Spellskite's ability to change the target to itself? And if so, can I continually use Spellskite's ability on the same spell to trigger Wild D...

FTV: Angels

We already know that both versions of Akroma are going to be included in the FTV, but what else it going to be there? Personally, I think that Wizards pretty much has to include Platinum Angel, Baneslayer Angel, and Serra Angel, as they're some of the most well-known angels in Magic, but that's only...

Re: Flavor of Exile

Exile is a mess, flavor-wise. It really is just whatever serves the situation. With Banisher Priest, the creature gets in the back. With Delve cards, who even knows, since Torrent Elemental was made specifically to be able to come back from being delved.

Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins

I was originally thinking White, then Green, then finally settled on Red. I tried out a sealed generator (with and without seeded packs), and Red was consistently giving me useful cards. Specifically, I was almost always able to make a good aggro deck. I'm telling you, those Thopter tokens are insane.
