Gatherer ruling for Accursed Witch wrote:If an effect causes Accursed Witch to transform on the battlefield, rather than leaving it and returning transformed, then Infectious Curse doesn’t become attached to any player and is put into your graveyard. This won’t cause abilities that trigger when a creature leaves the battlefield to trigger.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Sure. Sinuous Predator is still a Werewolf, so it's a legal target, and it's still capable of transforming (it just doesn't have a way to do so on its own).

Count me in for the party to give some bureaucrat a swift baseball bat to the taint. By which I mean commiserate non-violently in a forum thread. Because that sucks, dude.

They're the same thing... this actually came up before, in this thread, using some shenanigans to make a permanent into both an Aura and an Equipment, and then re-equipping it and asking if it also enchanted the new attachee... Some relevant rules: 303.4k An ability of a permanent that refers to the...

If I have 1 Graf Rats and 2 Midnight Scavengers, I'm assuming all 3 don't get exiled... Is there a priority in choosing one over the other, or is it just my choice of whichever I want? When Graf Rats's trigger resolves, you'll pick one of the two Midnight Scavengerses to exile, and then they'll com...

No, the trigger only happens if you "both own and control" both halves. If you control a half that your opponent owns, it isn't going to help.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Well, I was just going for minimal proof-of-concept... if you want to really speed it up, you'd add Conjurer's Closet to blink the Mimic every turn, and have it copy the newly-created token, so that the number of "make a new copy every turn" triggers grows every turn... get yourself some q...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Xenograft plus Opalescence plus Progenitor Mimic. Every turn you get a new copy of Xenograft, which can name a different creature type.
It's fun how much can be broken by turning random things into creatures and Progenitoring them...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
I assume you are allowed to sac a token for an Emerge cost, and then just pay the whole cost since there's no CMC. Yes. Unless the token is a copy of something that had a mana cost, in which case it'll have the same CMC as whatever it was copying. Speaking of sacrificing creatures that don't have a...

Yeah, there is a way to gain control of a spell, but not to give it away, at least as far as I can find in my searching.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
One of the main downsides of counterspells in general is drawing them too late... once your opponent has already resolved their big creature or whatever. Unsubstantiate's main upside is that its other mode, of bouncing a creature, is useful mostly in the cases where Remand would be bad, because you ...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Short, unhelpful answer: Kurkesh can only copy activated abilities. Knowledge Pool's ability is a triggered ability. But instead, let's say you activate Strionic Resonator targeting Knowledge Pool 's trigger. The copied trigger resolves, and the player who cast the original spell exiles their spell,...

Watching through today's W+P, the drug in that first game was "Hydroxide Oxydrine"? From my googling, Oxydrine is a French brand-name cleaning agent. I can't find much info on what's in it, but from the name I imagine it's similar to OxiClean in the English-speaking world. That is, a stron...

"When Animate Dead leaves the battlefield, that creature's controller sacrifices it." - is a delayed trigger, controlled by the controller of Animate Dead, which instructs the controller of the animated creature to sacrifice it... which is exactly what Sigarda prevents. So yes, if your opp...

Well then. ⋅ Approximately 1 in 8 boosters (more accurately, 15/121) have a mythic in the rare slot. ⋅ 1 in 8 boosters have a rare DFC, which is a mythic 1/5 of the time (3 mythics and 6 rares, and each rare is twice as common as each mythic) ⋅ 15/67 boosters have a foi...

Re: The Limited thread
From Maro's Tumblr - every pack has a common or uncommon DFC. 1 in 8 packs also has a rare or mythic DFC. Unlike what he guesses in that Tumblr post, I believe both of these take what is traditionally a common slot ([edit] see also this [/edit]), so each pack still has 1 single-faced rare or mythic,...

The relevant part of the rules text for Unearth says "If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else"... so if something is specifically exiling it, then Unearth isn't going to affect it - it's already going to exile, there's nothing the replacement effect ...
