Re: Ix's Essays
A few thoughts from a "label-less-ist" (we need a better name don't you think, j/k): The advantage to no labels is the loss of divisions in society. It is much harder for a bigot to self-justify when the lines that define people are so complex, many things we share with one another and man...

chetoos: Considering your mana curve, a cheaper draw spell than Glimmer of Genius may be better, the four-drop slot is pretty busy at the moment. Also considering the height of the curve, 22 lands is definitely too few. Booster: This deck would love Lone Rider - more Odric keyword funtimes, and not ...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
You may tap creatures to Crew whenever you want, notably Smuggler's Copter has a "when this creature blocks" ability. Tapping creatures to Crew is the cost of the ability, a creature's normal tap ability (if it has one) will also require tapping as the cost - so you can activate only one o...

Sounds like lots of playtesting is in order! But yeah, also curious about these guild decks. Meanwhile, been wanting to make this forever: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/arts-crafts-1 In terms of aesthetic think: Commander's Sphere, Etched Champion/Oracle, Seer's Sundial, Master Transmuter, in addit...

Re: KLD Pre-release - how'd you do?
In a continuation of my being-entirely-average-at-Magic, I went 2-1-2. Played G/W, much as it pained me to not be playing Blue, it just wasn't there. My deck was a lot of fun though: Angel of Invention, Oviya Pashiri, Whirlermaker and a lot of fabricate for going ridiculously wide (unfortunately Fum...

Re: Standard Discussion
Pious Evangel and Aetherflux Reservoir or Felidar Sovereign is another win condition to consider. The only thing that isn't a two-card payload for the combo is Sanctifier of Souls (but he probably just gets chump-blocked. Also in the same wheelhouse is the Displacer/Watcher combo, which has more res...

Re: Kaladesh Spoiler Season Hype
So very hype. So far: The overall aesthetic, filigree artifacts, the Servo token and the little fox thing are ridiculously cute. Rashmi & Jori En in Standard together. I would like all the cards please. Gremlins! And in general, Wizards have been putting out some consistently awesome content ove...

Re: Standard Discussion
Hope y'all had a good time at EMN game day! Recorded my best result in standard so far - second place with w/u spirits, (ridiculously fun deck to play).
And locally there was a superb variety of interesting and innovative decks out there today, the format seems very healthy at the moment.

I'll have to reduce my lands too if that's the case. Otherwise: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/azorius- ... call-duel/ It's equipment storm. Paladin/Riddlesmith draw triggers from the many free equipments (don't forget metalcraft to attach Paradise Mantle for extra mana), reload with Retract/Recall/...

But thankfully, Fyndhorn Elves isn't modern-legal anyway.

Dream Theater 7UR Enchantment Whenever an opponent casts a spell, exile the top card of that player's library face down. You may look at cards exiled this way. As long as it's not your turn, you may cast spells exiled with Dream Theater as though they had flash. This is what I think about in name an...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Looking to get into modern with a budget spirits deck. Any thoughts? http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/new-londo/ Rad. I've been wanting to try out something similar as spirits is my jam. Was talking to a guy in my LGS who plays a variety of w/u control decks, he is a huge advocate of Azorius Charm. 2...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Opened a very mediocre pool, most exciting things were Tree of Perdition - which doesn't actually do all that much in limited, and Eldritch Evolution - but with no particular bombs or silver bullets to tutor for. Put together g/b sort-of delirium/tokens, went 2-1-1. Highlights include: Having to use...

Seems like a perfect excuse to build around Chains of Mephistopheles: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/empty-ha ... ty-hearts/
It's kind of like 8-Rack, but less fun.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
Hey that's a pretty neat idea, I could go for some challenge-ings too. Okay, starting off simple: make a mono-red mill deck. Additionally, for an actual deck I'm building: can anybody recommend some artifact/enchantment tutors or card-draw in white or blue that have cold & ethereal art? Edit - w...

Re: Predictions for eldritch moon (spoilers?)
Things that caught my eye from the full spoiler: Grapple with the Past: I loved Corpse Churn in standard, with so many utility creatures - it was basically a black Anticipate with upside for tempo and midrange decks. Interested to see what green can do with a (slightly) better version. Eldritch Evol...

Re: Predictions for eldritch moon (spoilers?)
Regarding Harmless Offering, I doubt WotC would print an obvious combo match for it in this set, they're usually more careful than to give us connecting puzzle pieces all at once.

Re: Standard Discussion
I really hope they print more targeted lifegain for a Tainted Remedy lifegain? deck. Currently there's only Healing Hands and Blessed Alliance, Triskaidekaphobia also works. Regular lifegain is best built around triggering Pious Evangel / Wayward Disciple (and similar effects) as much as possible, i...
