Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

The release notes are now out: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/release-notes-2014-07-07 Looks like The Chain Veil does not care about the timing of when you activate it; each activation simply adds an extra loyalty activation and you don't need to use an ability in between Chain Veil ac...

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

I don't think enchanting equipment with Ensoul Artifact will allow the equipment to give itself whatever abilities it would normally grant, since it's not in any way equipping a creature. Indestructible and "creatures you control get _____" might be the best you can get with most non-creat...

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

Ahh, I remember hearing something about how they were changing the template for when something is given various card stats, where in the case of LRR's spoiler card they actually spell out "base power and toughness" instead of just saying "is a 5/5" as usual. That gave me a smile....

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

I just noticed that the tokens in the latest Arcana (http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-2015-tokens-2014-07-02) now all have a "Token" supertype. That's... kind of interesting. I guess that'll be a new comp rules update.

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

Just making sure, does activating The Chain Veil ability more than once allow an additional usage of planeswalker abilities like how additional land drops work? Or would a planeswalker using an activated ability fulfill the requirement of multiple resolved Veil abilities (or something like that), me...

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

I guess they figured out that the best way to make a four-ability planeswalker not incredibly broken is to make one extremely situational, in this case the "destroy target planeswalker" one. But man, that last ability... I'm excited to see this Garruk in action, even if that 7 CMC makes it...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I finally got around to double sleeving my commander deck. It's not like the deck it super expensive, but 10 of these cards cost like $25 or more each so I felt it warranted enough of a reason to seal the top of the cards. Such an amazingly zen experience. Now it's super fun to hold in my hands as I...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

Assigned combat damage is not affected by damage prevention or protection, as you still assign what would be considered as lethal (making damage marked to equal the toughness, or deathtouch, and so forth). Whether or not it actually ends up being lethal does not matter, as it will still be dealt and...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

You can, but it is considered "derived information" under the tournament rules: http://rules.wizards.com/rulebook.aspx?game=Magic&category=Tournament%20Policy#4545 This means that teeeechnically your opponent can refuse to help, but it would mean that you would be the one that gets to ...

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

Unfortunately, the way the ability works is it creates a time duration for the ability. Removing the ability does not prevent the exiled creatures from returning. Now, if this were the old Oblivion Ring ability or something where it was split into two separate triggers, then the creatures will defin...

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

One of the latest articles (specifically the one spoiling the pain lands) said Khans will definitely get duals, and pretty likely to be the allied to compliment M15's enemy'd. Will be interesting to see what they're doing for the sake of "balance."

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread

I've always pronounced it like "Gareth" but with an "uck" at the end. I don't get where "ook" comes from.

Also I'm pretty sure MaRo says it the same way (I'm certain he said his name in at least one of his podcasts), so I'm sticking with that.

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

Had a silly chat with a friend over Nissa and now all I want to do is activate her ultimate with a Hedron Crab out on the field.

Avacyn looks... fine, probably. There's no way she's gonna be able to come close to how bonkers her 8 CMC predecessor was, and this version is alright I guess?

Re: The M15 Super Special Awesome Spoiler Thread!

I get my spoils from Mythic Spoiler, I'm far too excited to wait for Wizards to post social media spoilers the day after they were being spread around the public. Convoke is exciting, especially when using it with something like Obelisk of Urd. Maybe Karn will come back as the 6th planeswalker (or 7...

Thanks to Mythic Spoiler arranging the cards this way, I finally get why they chose these particular planes. Was wondering for a bit why we have Soul of Theros when we were there just recently.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge

This reminded me of a question I've had for a while now, but always forgot about when opportunities to ask it come up since it's a situation that doesn't come up often. At least I think so, anyway. A spell/ability causes all creatures to get -1/-1 until end of turn, making a 2/2 creature into a 1/1....
