System Shock 2
Hi folks, So about a year/9 months ago I picked up SS2. I've played a bit of it, but I found it kinda hard to get into the game. It's not a graphics problem for me; I just felt like I was missing something on account of my unfamiliarity with the game's systems/mechanics. I would like to get through ...

Re: Friday Nights: Hero's Path - The Ordeal
Oh, god. This episode broke me. First time I've literally laughed out loud at something in quite a while. Alex and Cam really made this episode for me, especially when Alex starts drinking the soup. Gets me every time I watch it. Music was above and beyond this episode, my only question is whether t...

Teaching Decks
As we all know, Magic is an incredibly complex game, with an incredible volume of rules.
Have any of you built decks specifically for teaching friends interested in the game? If so, what was in them?

Yeah, according to the information page they're gonna have 10$ drafts, so I may, in the words of Graham, "draft until I puke".

Quick PTQ question
Hey folks,
There's a standard PTQ near me in the near future, but I don't intend to participate in teh main event. Do I need to register(and pay the registration fee) to enter, or can I just show up at the venue and participate in side-events?

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I'm planning on doing something similar to zepancakes, though I'm going to lean mine more towards "take this game and just mess with it" with cards like whims of the fates and warp world. My goal is to make my deck disruptive enough that people will want to target it, even though it won't ...

Re: Born of the Gods prerelease
Had a bit of a rough time at my prerelease. Was hoping for green seeded, but they were out and I ended up with red. My pool was pretty weak (sadly Master of Waves doesn't really put in much work in sealed) and I ended up with an Izzet deck that kinda pulled two ways. Went 2-4 or 3-3, can't remember....

Re: Luck of the Golden Gods
My best luck was splitting a box of M14 with three other people, where I pulled 4 planeswalkers out of my 9 packs. Sadly, prerelease didn't treat me so well this time around. I opened a master of waves, but he didn't put in that much work. Deck was jank.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
If you cast Curse of the Swine targeting two creatures, and one of those creatures becomes an invalid target, the spell still resolves since at least one target is valid, right? Caused a rules dispute in a Commander game earlier this week.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
While I agree that would be awesome, Del, it would have some un-fun interactions with creature whose P/T come entirely from counters (eg. modular, to draw on an older example).

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
FIA kinda wants to be at common, though, since green is tops in enchantment removal. It just works out strange in a block where sometimes enchantment removal (where green it top) = creature removal (where green is bottom)

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Putting in my two cents on the enchantment removal discussion... Going back to M14, R&D made it pretty clear removal wasn't gonna be strong coming into Theros. That's just the way it is. But it's not like they've suddenly forgotten how to balance removal; It's intentionally weak. Theros block ha...

I was talking specifically about competitive dota, where you'll see the team that's clearly lost call "gg" and mass dc. I wasn't referring to pub games.

Re: The Game Venting Thread
On the dota things: With regards to pro tournaments, one thing I like is that they losing team usually concedes once it's clear the game's lost, unlike in a pub where the game drags on another 15-30 minutes before it ends. As for preferred content creators and streamers, I tend to avoid random strea...

Re: TTC - Catching Up
Another important difference between Primal Vigor and Doubling Season is that Primal Vigor only applies to +1/+1 tokens, rather than all tokens. In addition to all the other broken stuff you can do with doubling tokens, it means your planeswalkers ETB with twice the normal number of tokens (which fo...

Re: So that just happened (funny MTG stories)
So I'm in an 8-man, four-way Two-Headed Giant Commander Game. We opt to start everyone at 80 life. I'm running Shattergang bros, which has horrible synergy with my partner, who's running Prime Speaker. The game's pretty slow, with big plays all around, but with too much beef on the board and too muc...

Re: Control Deck Woes
Duckay's points are very good, especially with regards to the difference in strategy versus boardwipes and versus counterspells. Perhaps keep some things in your sideboard to side in for matchups like this, either things like Whip (as Duckay suggests) to make your deck faster, or perhaps some more a...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I was thinking I would aim for fixing through land-searching, running the Panoramas and land-fetchers like Traveller's Amulet and its ilk. I don't think Sunburst would be a good fit: All the cards with Sunburst are artifacts, and I was more hoping to use Domain cards for some instants and sorceries....
